DON'T BUY

Wrecked my 2021 GCL back on 3/2----left front. Was told that parts would be available---WRONG! !!!!!!! I was in the auto damage appraisal business for over 35 years and had heard stories and even experienced parts delays due to new vehicle/ body changes. It now appears that my fender is coming out of Texas (I live outside Atlanta) and my hood is on NATIONAL BACKORDER with possibility of two-three months being 'down'.

I'm looking for USED or even A/Mkt parts to get this thing back on the road.

Over the years, I've purchased FIFTEEN brand spanking new Chrysler products and I'm DISCUSSED!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm about to have the body shop get into 'drivable' condition and drive around with signs that say------'DON'T BUY"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You were an auto appraiser for 35 years and still are clueless on what the COVID pandemic did to the pipeline in the auto industry and shortages? Your whole post has nothing to do with Jeep; every auto company has the same issue.

Maybe you're right -- BUT-----everything is blamed on Covid--and it's for sure NOT interupting the materials to build these things--------------------------

I think everyone's point is it is not right to just criticize Jeep for this. My brother is a Hyundai salesman and I have friends at a Ford/Honda/Mazda dealer....and well every single car brand is suffering badly when it comes to parts supply and even labor. They are very short on mechanics.
As near as I can tell, I would have just as hard of a time if I wreck my 2018 Trailhawk right now getting a new bumper or fender if I need it. ( knock on wood )
Just be thankful you are not and owner of a Tesla or a German car. I hear their parts supply issues spawn waits of up to a year.

I am an assistant parts manger for another carline and unfortunately Covid is still a reason for the SOME of the parts shortages or manufacturing issues. We have had parts issues since the beginning and it is still that way. Now we have a war and truckers issue to deal with. Just have to deal with unfortunately.

You are no doubt correct that the manufacturers are prioritizing builds over repairs. But it ain’t right. Especially with warranty repairs.
I am having UConnect problems on my second GCL. Stellantis repurchased my first one due to a defective UConnect system they could not repair. Now after 200 miles the UConnect went out on my second GCL.
They should repair this one before building that next new unit. But they won’t. They are showing all how “loyal” they are after the sale.

I would have to agree. Warranty repairs should get a high priority status. I have read that other manufacturers are doing the same thing. Cars sitting in their shops waiting on parts. Loyalty is no longer a standard these days. it's all about the money and getting as much as they can. I don't agree with it, but have to live with it.

The builds put dollars in corporate pockets as the vehicles are sold to dealers. It’s pretty simple as Detroit wants to make $ and F everybody else downstream including the consumer. There are national laws that say when vehicle builds start, spares/service parts must be built first and on hand to prevent such behavior.

As a person who has worked directly for a tier 1 supplier and also now self employed as supporting them, this behavior is illegal. Service parts and spares are built first, inventory is banked and once full, then production pieces go to the line. If they have exhausted the spare/service bank they are doing it wrong.

Their greed > consumer protection/warranty laws.

It took me almost three months to get my Uconnect guts replaced, and four months to get new headlights and a foot sensor for the rear hatch. Nevermind all the other problems. They're using all the parts to build new cars, and shareholders don't care about car repairs. Supply chain problems started with the Evergreen crash, and never really recovered (due to multiple global and local issues).

Chrysler's problems may be deeper than others. You cannot get a mopar filter for a Hemi Ram, and I'm not joking. 4892339BB, also fits a ton of 4 cylinders. Can't get, backordered.

Also cannot get an oil filter for a 2020 and newer ecodiesel. Backordered. Not to mention that there's no listing for this filter from Napa, O'Reilly, Autozone, or Advanced. Just plain cannot get. But Chrysler is still building and selling them, ya just can't get your oil changed on it.

But, like McDonald's, Chrysler's motto is "our product sucks, our service sucks, but people still buy it, so who cares"

There was a segment on my local TV news this morning about this issue. The problem of limited supply of parts for repairs is industry wide. They made no mention of a Stelantis product. It's all manufacturers. They wrapped the story up by saying we should all have rental car coverage in our insurance policies.

It is definitely industry-wide, which makes it more important than ever to choose a brand with high reliability these days, and probably avoid first model year vehicles from any brand, due to natural lack of aftermarket parts support (you can't even get recycled parts on a new model year, because there's no inventory in wrecking yards either).Even in good times, those things can all be issues, but it's a much bigger problem now.
