Dealer won't service GCL unless purchased there

That is of little concern to me. The luxury dealers service your vehicle without question and that is my point. It cost Jeep another vehicle since I just purchased a new Lexus RX 450h to go with my SR. I could not chance having two Jeeps in the family with the service issues I am having with my new SR.
You're confusing my observation that it comes down to warranty and surveys with me having a desire that you buy a Jeep, or that I'm defending Jeep. It sounds like you found a solution though by purchasing a Lexus. Happy trails.

Well I tried 4 different dealerships, that qualifies as a Jeep issue to me.
I have no issues in my area with this, nor have I heard any, and like I said, I had no issues here in Florida at 2 dealerships. Perhaps you contact Jeep and find out what is going on.

All my work was for warranty repair since it was a 4 month old vehicle. My primary point is that it has never mattered at BMW, Lexus, Audi or Mercedes. They have all provided free loaners regardless of where the vehicle was purchased. That is the difference between Jeep and the luxury dealerships. Sorry but expectations are high when purchasing vehicles over $70K and Jeep has a long ways to go.

When I went to the dealership where I got our jeep last week the first question was did you buy it here. Yea but it shouldn’t matter. This is my first jeep. And likely our last. This experience hasn’t been great. As a long time ford buyer Over 25 years of driving I was never asked if I bought it at the servicing dealership. Also was never refused a free loaner at ford. And that was at two different ford dealers. Fca is a mess in my opinion. Our local jeep dealer also sells Lincoln’s. The service manager told me it’s easier to deal with ford for warranty work compared to fca. Fca doesn’t wanna cover stuff that ford doesn’t think twice about. Fca requires approval for small stuff that ford just replaces. For instance we had an explorer and the center cap was corroded in a year from purchase. Took it to the local jeep Lincoln dealer. Service manager said yup no problem. Told
Me if that was a fca product he would have had to submit it for approval and likely fca would reject it saying it’s normal wear and tear.

SO I've been asked that before at the dealer I bought my car from and another where I have not, and I asked them why they are asking, and both times they said "to see if you are in the system" or I should take your VIN# to sign you in.

Still love my SR just not thrilled with service.

Never heard of this before. Sounds illogical. Bought our GCL in Schaumburg, IL and had the telematics update service done at another jeep dealership in Elgin, IL with no questions asked.

It happens and is happening. I’ve been denied service by two dealers. One dealer refused a second time, even after Jeep Customer Care put me on the phone directly with the service manager.

If you were customer pay, with zero chance of getting a survey from Chrysler, you'd probably get right in. Try it.

*****Call them and say you have a 2010 Grand Cherokee or Wrangler and say "the AC isn't working well". I have a suspicion that all the sudden they'd make room for you. That's the logic behind this. Surveys are SUPER important to a dealer. Add a shortage of experienced techs to this and it just gets worse.

Jeep corporate doesn’t care. I was told by them directly that any Dealership has the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
I would contact my local TV ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC etc. They usually have a " action" person who deals with difficult issues. If this were to air, it would kill sales!

Seems like business suicide to me. It’s not like they aren’t reimbursed for the work. And like some have said the service dept is what keeps ppl coming back for more vehicles.

I would call Jeep Corporate and call my State Attorney General's Office.
Yeah, do that. There are ZERO laws that say a dealer can't refuse you service. Do you honestly believe that you can make them work on your car? Do you think dealerships haven't "fired" customers before? I know of a circumstance where a guy had bought cars from a dealer, but bought a truck somewhere else, then had a tonneau cover installed at his old dealer. There were problems with the tonneau cover and the customer flamed them on a survey. There were literally notes from the owner of the dealership that popped up in the DMS saying "PER (name retracted-but owner of dealership) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL WE DO ANY WORK ON THIS VEHICLE".

Most service departments don't really care where you buy your car, they want your service work. However, when a new vehicle comes out that is problematic and they could get flamed on a survey for a car they didn't even sell, attitudes change. Plus, with the current labor shortage, a lot of dealers are too busy for all the work they have anyways.

I love reading these posts "Why would they do that?". It's like I'm invisible. I've told you guys the problem, but just keep living in disbelief and asking the exact same question.

I didn’t give a bad review UNTIL they refused service. Then refused service again, after transferred to him by Jeep Corporate. I got scolded by that service manager. I asked him, “was anything I said in my review untrue?” He responded, “well, no.” Then refused service again, after transferred to him by Jeep Corporate.

I am stubborn I would go to the front on the public street and film (cell phone) a video of myself with the Dealership in the background telling my story 100% truthfully and I would post it to YouTube and Viemo. I would include the fact the Corp. did nothing. Buyer Beware.

I'm really not trying to be a smart alleck, but what would that accomplish? Get all the other people who didn't buy their cars from that dealer, to not go there? I don't think that would really sway anyone from buying there, as those people aren't being turned away. I don't think your video would gain the traction you think it would.
