Dealer Add ons

My dealer is adding Lo Jack recovery, wheel locks and some other things I will list later. This must be the modern version of glass etch paint protect and other dubious profit makers! What are your dealers adding and is it worth the money?

Lo Jack is redundant. The GCL has the ability to show you where it is on your phone. Wheel locks can be added yourself for nearly no cost. Stupid ad-ons are just a way to inflate the price.

The dealer add ons are getting ridiculous, mine added all of that plus some(tinted windows, fabric protection, etc.). The funniest one is the Nitrogen filled tires for $100. I just picked mine up yesterday and said they could leave the dealer add on charge if the canceled it out by giving me more form my trade, which was already more than they should have given me. It’s just an accounting thing, the dealer makes pure profit off of those add ons so they are usually good with coming down on vehicle price or giving more for your trade in.

Everyone should emphatically tell the dealer that negotiations do not include their BS add ons. In fact, they should tell the dealer that the negotiation begins at invoice, period.

Mine added etch, which is supposed to be the VIN imprinted on the windows to reduce the vehicle value to thieves. They said it was already done, so I just had to be okay with the $299, but I can’t find it on any of the glass. If I can’t see it, how would a potential thief?

I highly doubt someone committing grand theft is going to inspect the windows before they hijack a car. Personally, I don't want any kind of recovery tracking or what not on my car. I'm kind of bummed it's forced into me with the L.
If it gets stolen I just want the insurance to pay me out so I can move on from such bad situation, as opposed to having insurance play games while I'm stuck with a car that's been striped for parts.
