Dashcam Recommendation

I have had a BlackVue DR900X-2CH in all my vehicles or variations of the model throughout the years.

No complaints besides the cost.

I've actually been looking at the 590 or 750 series as I think 900 is way overkill. Did you do a DIY install? If not, how much did the shop charge you?

Do you mind sharing a picture of the wiring? I am just a little worried about the wiring in general for any dash cams. I guess I am curious to see whether it can be tucked in through the headliner or something or it just hangs down from the middle.

I've always installed myself - being an electrical engineer, I'm kind of a geek about wiring.

I justify the cost of the camera based on the amounts it has saved me in the past. For instance, I had a dashcam in my Tundra, when a service tech at the dealership backed into a forklift. The dealership tried to tell me the damage was there when I dropped it off and quoted over $2200 for a repair. I pointed to the dashcam and said, "Let me pull the video". The advisor spoke with the manager and ended up admitting the tech hit a forklift and would cover the cost to repair. That was when I knew I would always have a dashcam installed in all my vehicles.

Anyone hardwired their dashcam for power all the time? For example into the upper console or any other routing?

Still awaiting my order (placed 1/1) but once installed will post a step by step guide to install.

Looking to buy the Blackvue 900X 2 ch Plus. I want to hardwire for power. Has anyone had experience installing a dash cam with rear camera and power wiring? Looking to see if I can self install.

Thanks for your reply. Fortunately the kit you referenced is already included with the Blackvue 900X camera system.

My real concern is how one routes the wires to the fuse panel and to the rear camera. I am picking up my JGC Overland next week.

probably have to go thru on the side by the doors by removing the plastic pieces and run it along all the other wires.
