Damping?

Adaptive damping or semi active damping? What's the difference? Would I notice the difference?

After a week of trying to find this out myself and getting the runaround from Jeep asking what the difference was between Adaptive Damping and Semi Active I received an email yesterday telling me a generic definition of what Semi Active Damping was. When I pressed for more info they told me that the Adaptive Damping system is class leading and it was discontinued part way through the production cycle and the Semi Active was replacing it. Very vague. I replied to get more info and was told that this was all they could release about it at this time. As far as noticing the difference, I did take the car for a ride and it was very smooth. Just don’t like how Jeep handled all this after my order was placed months ago. I will probably still take delivery. Very nice vehicle

Thanks for your response. I've been trying to look online and the info is all over the place. One place made it sound like the semi active was actually better. Very confusing. They'd been better off to just build less and keep the equipment the same. How will all of this affect resale in a few years? I'm trying to decide whether I want to wait a year for all the bugs to shake out or not. But the price will be higher, but maybe not if we get back to normal and actually get something off msrp. But then less for my trade and maybe higher interest rates. But I will be frustrated if I have a 65k car in the shop constantly. If I wanted that I'd buy a Land Rover

It is very frustrating. I am going to purchase the car. I did get $ 2,500 off MSRP when I ordered the vehicle and did ask the dealer for another $500 off after all this and asked if they would throw in the all weather mats and they agreed. After taking it for another drive I think I am making the right choice. I got a great deal from a dealer I have been purchasing from for a long time. Good luck.
