Burning smell

Hi everyone,
We purchased a JGCL limited back in October and noticed a burning smell coming from the vents when the auto stop/start activates and deactivates. It happened again today for about the 8th time since owning the car. Has anyone noticed a similar issue? I contacted Jeep in Schaumburg, IL stating they have not heard of any complaints about this. I made an appointment for next week.

I smell it occasionally too but while driving as well not only when stopped, actually we smelled it today.
I am planning to mention it to the dealer on the next oil change although I am expecting the typical answer (This is the first time to hear about this issue).

We smelled it again soon after my post while backing out of driveway.

If you're referring to an oil burning smell, I have noticed the same on my Overland. Doesn't happen all the time, but still sounds troubling.

It does smell like burning oil or rubber. But, yes it is intermittent. I opened up the hood right after smelling it, but did not see any leaks nor did I smell anything. Very weird.

Sounds like we're all experiencing the same thing. If any of you end up taking it for service, please let us know what they state as the issue here. Thanks

I just hope the Jeep service techs don’t tell me they can’t find an issue because they can’t replicate the smell.

Brought into service today. They said it was a plastic bag that happened to get caught under Meath the car that was burning off. Everything else seemed to be fine. Noticed the smell again through the vents once I parked at home with the engine still on. Might still be residual plastic burning off?
Another owner just posted a similar experience today with burning plastic smell, but with smoke coming through the vents!
