Bucket of rattles

6000 miles on my 21 GCL Limited. I have a rattle in dashboard to left of steering wheel, the driver side rear door rattles, the ceiling over driver side rattles, and the passenger side front speaker now rattles…. I didn’t buy a $57k vehicle for this…

I would tend to agree they could make the door panels more solid around speaker grill specifically. Alpine system prob rattling things loose somehow I have same model same mileage only notice rattling at high volume high bass songs.

Speaker grille is built into the door panel. I think the speaker is busted. I have some 3m double-sided automotive tape I have placed strategically. We’ll see if it helps everything but the speaker

Anyone else notice how loose the interior door panels on the rear doors are attached? Probably the source of the rattling in my doors.

I have the McIntosh system and the area around the seat memory switches rattles badly (sort of a chirping rattle) at certain upper mid bass frequencies at moderate/mid volume. If I press the soft side of my fist in the area just aft of the memory switches (applying pressure) it stops. It seems like it's something behind the door panel, but could possibly be the switch buttons too.

I also have a 'flapping' noise coming from the roof area in the back (how it seems from drivers seat). It sounds the way a loose end of a strap would sound if you had something strapped on the roof). It comes and goes, but mainly happens at highway speeds. There's nothing visibly loose on the roof, though, so it may be coming from underneath. I can't figure it out.

I have only had the car 5 days, and it hasn't been to the dealer yet for diagnosis.

I have all issues stated above. I am SR with the Mac system. I already have had one speaker replaced due to rattling (passenger front door), the speaker replacement did nothing. I have interior door rattles due to stuff continuously becoming more loose or tape falling off. I have door pillar issues still and plenty of noises as a result being driven and audio playing. After seeing inside the door while dealer was changing the speaker, it is obvious that these problems will never go away. The door interior is not sound proofed well. Lots are things able to flop around in there, let alone lack of sealant at bolted parts to stop vibration. The Mac system isn't much better than the alpine in the 2019 GC, but has deeper bass. I suspect this has done the bulk of the damage.

I have annoying headliner buzzing noises while driving without audio. I have pressed hard on the a pillar to headliner intersect area and it has stopped. I suspect a clip or sticky tape wasn't holding well. I have to do this periodically. I also found a rear side panel vibration due to a loose panel, but was sounding like it was coming from the front, it was reflecting off the front glass. I drove around and made my wife hop around to different seats for a bit to find it.

Your seat memory issues might be the b pillar noise. There are parts inside the pillar contacting causing a metallic clicking/clunking noise. Not sure if it is the same as you hear. There is another thread about that already. I also had a protective cover underneath my jeep that was not bolted and was flapping in the wind while driving. My pics are in the b pillar thread.

If my dealer can fix all of the other issues in less than 14 days, If I still own it in a month due to my lemon law suit, it will go to a pro audio shop to be lined with sound deadening mat everywhere. The road noise is horrible. My 2012 GC was ok, the 2019 GC was better. This 21 GCL is worse than both, AND is supposed to have active noise cancelation thru the speakers to cancel the noise, go figure.

Rattle update! Dealer tracking down rattles. The rear door rattle baffled them, so they deconstructed another 2021 with a later build date on their lot and found that my interior door panels did not have felt spacers around the door tabs like another one on their lot. I am actually pretty impressed that they decided to dig in and spend a good amount of effort to research. They’re not sure why (naturally) why the felt spacers are missing, but the door panels are about $600 each with a 5-6 day lead time, if they have to replace them. Would have to replace because the felt spacers apparently do not have a part number.

That's impressive, in both good (dealer diligence) and bad (assembly problems). I'm having continued problems with my front door panels vibrating as well (dealer has seen them, and also ordered a new front pass door speaker, but I don't hear anything wrong with the speaker... it's all just rattles that can come and go in severity, and generally stop when I press my fist against the panel between the memory seat/massage switch are and the forward edge of the door.

I've also noticed the vibrations get worse, and spread to the lower door panel area when the door is open, which would seem to indicate the 'felt spacer' issue you're having.

Thanks for posting the update though, this will help me when they take that apart.

I've never heard of a dealer service doing something like this... experimenting on a vehicle on their lot. Well done!

I also have the dashboard rattle left of the steering wheel. Super annoying.

They are still figuring out the ceiling rattle today. Hoping to have the dashboard rattle figured out tomorrow. I will keep everyone posted. Day 3 of no Jeep, and in a Fleet edition Kia Optima rental. 😖. But the dealership is trying their darndest.

Sounds like they are doing a great job! Kudos!

Update, so the rattle in my rear doors appear gone, but they pretty much gave up on the ceiling and never got to the dashboard rattle. Also won’t provide a rental anymore. Used the Jeep Wave rental, which only had 5 days and I’ve used 4 of the 5 days.
