Hi WL Jeep Forum Readers!

I see many of you are buying vehicles and there are a couple threads on posting the deals all of you are getting. It seems the majority of you are under the impression that you cannot get a good deal anymore but that's just not true. Sure, if you are buying off the lot then that's the case. Personally, I don't know why you would since what is on the lots is basically crap. For example, who the heck wants a '21 Overland or Summit? Why pay all that money without having the fancy air ride or the tow package??? If you can't wait, time isn't on your side and you MUST purchase now then sure, I get it. You have to buy what's available.

BUUUUUUT...

If you can wait, you should be doing special orders and getting somewhere between 4-6% BELOW INVOICE. Yes you read that right, below invoice, not below MSRP. If you own a Wrangler or Gladiator and follow those forums you are probably like me and know that these deals are common with a few major dealerships nationwide. Pre-coivd, 7% below invoice was not uncommon either! These deals are non-negotiable and super easy. You just call up and ask to speak with the team that does the special ordering. You don't deal with all the garbage that comes with all the back and forth. You will be required to pay between $500-$1000 deposit that is applied towards the vehicles purchase price.

I have personally purchased 2 gladiators over the last 18 months. First was a loaded gas gladiator rubicon for 7% below invoice (4/20/2020). The second was this past April when I traded in my first JT for a special ordered loaded diesel gladiator rubicon when the 7% deal was still going on. I couldn't help myself, the diesel motor was just too awesome to pass up. Especially with the COVID market driving up my first JT $2,500 more than I paid for it. We are now about to order a MY '22 GCL Summit with V8 and I'll be getting 6k off of the sticker price. Because it's a special order I will also not be settling. I can pick all the options, colors etc. so I know I'm getting exactly what I want, and for much less you can ever negotiate for.

Any rebates and/or discounts are still valid when you do special orders and finally take delivery, and you are price protected. So let's say you build a MY 22 today, you're total cost is 59K and there is an 1k rebate valid on your trim/build. You do not take deliver until mid-January, the cost of the vehicle has gone up twice and the rebate is long gone. Don't worry, there is a box the dealer checks for price protection. It locks in the price the day you ordered as well as any rebates or discounts offered that day. Most dealerships are not aware that the rebates and discounts are locked in as well because that did not become a thing until July of this past year. For whatever reason, Stellantis decided to add those on to the "protected price". If BETTER rebates happen to be available at time of delivery you can opt for those instead of the previous ones, and you're price doesn't go up.

Several Dealers are still offering varying discounts, if you are close to Lakeland CDJ PM me and I'll give you the contact and my name... I get a $100 kickback from Lakeland CDJ.
Lakeland CDJ (Lakeland, FL)
Gupton Motors in Teneseee
Criswell in MD
Koons in VA

I just wanted to share this info with all of you that maybe haven't purchased yet to let you know that there are better options available. An informed buyer is better than an uninformed one. I'm happy to help answer any questions if you have so please feel free to PM me. I'm not a dealer, nor do I have any affiliation. I'm just a Veteran that works in Cybersecurity and loves a good deal!!

I appreciate this! We bought our SR back in August fully loaded except V8 (wife doesn't need it or care about it) so we're all set. However, this is fantastic info for those that can wait. I will definitely store this info for future reference. Thanks!

Thanks! This deal is usually valid on Rams too just FYI.

We were going to roll with the V6 originally. But then I had the opportunity to test drive a V8 and wow it was different. Plus, it's so cool to tell people when they ask... Yes there's a HEMI in there!

Keep in mind that the 2022's will include the price increase, and there may or may not be rebates on the 22's but there are for sure rebates on the 21's, at least on the Limiteds.

Thanks captain obvious. Not sure why someone ordering a MY 22 would think they get the price of a ‘21. This comment is also what I tried to be specific about rebates and discounts available.

Ohhhhh....I'll keep THAT in mind when I'm in the market again in about 18 months...
I know about Koons but Lakeland is much closer to the Tampa Bay area than VA - LOL!

Champa Bay! Yes it is. Jerry Ulm is just down the road here in Tampa but they do not do the 6% (or 7% during normal markets). They will only do 3%. I purchase through Lakeland then do my service through Jerry Ulm because that dealership kicks ass!

But it DOES figure into the total cost equation, when calculating the cost differences right ? In my situation, I got the 1500 rebate, and no price increase, so that's a guarenteed savings difference of $2700 over a 2022. And with literally hundreds of 2021's on lots within 20 miles , you can find exactly what you want.

No, it doesn’t. Nothing about a 21 has to do with a 22. I don’t know a single person, nor can I figure out the logic behind why someone would factor the cost of a 21 into paying for a 22. What does the 21 cost have to do with ordering a vehicle xx% below invoice?

I guess I don’t think I understand your logic. What would the price of a ‘21 have to do with the price of a ‘22? And why would someone factor the cost of a rebate on a 21 into the cost of a 22?

Keep in mind though that you will lose some of those savings due to the lower trade-in value compared to the 22.

Since you insist on trampling on my post to help others let’s just politely put you back in your place. Let me help you with the math… you got $2700 off sticker… good job, that’s roughly 5% off MSRP probably. I’m talking 4-6% off invoice. Which means double the discount you are saying. So please explain how buying an older MY at a higher price is better than a newer MY at a cheaper price? And in some scenarios (Overland and Summit) you will have MORE features than before.

But I digress regardless, let’s defer to math in case I’m wrong. I’m assuming you’re talking about a limited since you mentioned rebates, but can you tell me the MSRP, the trim and the total money off MSRP you received?

You are missing the point , I'm not saying that your deal is good or bad, I'm simply offering an alternative to consider... How is that "trampling" on your post ?
what I paid is of no consequence to this discussion , but for your information, the MSRP on my limited was $53925 . My out the door price including 6% sales tax and all fees was $51,228.90 .

Also, 6% off MSRP…. Not invoice. I’m still unclear what point you are trying to make. This post was directed at those that don’t need to buy a vehicle this moment and can afford to put the time in and wait. No idea how your point of paying more is relevant to this post. Now we are in pissing contest because you insist on explaining to me why your purchase off a lot, has any relevance to letting people know they can do much better by special ordering all because you insisted on making a comment with no relevance to this.

“Hey forum readers, in case you don’t want to save money you can always buy the previous model year off the lot for more money. Just making my point here, it’s totally possible.”
