Auto Break

Well tonight was a total show. Started when leaving the garage. Backing out, break automatically engaged. It was startling. I thought the dog was behind the car. Nothing there. I started to back up again…bam. Breaks engaged. I finally get the car out of the garage. Go on about my business. Backing out of a parking spot….breaks engage. Nothing on the sensors. No changes in settings for se sensitivity. I do t want to hate this vehicle. Seriously don’t. It my god…76k overland with nothing but problems.

So you know, the word is brake ;-) Our SR has done this and I find it happens when I back up too fast. I think the software gets overwhelmed and errs on the side of braking and braking early. If I back out of our tight garage slowly, no problems.

Also, how did you end up paying $76k for an Overland? Our SR was $68k OTD including a 7 year Mopar warranty.

Mine did that this morning. I’ve owned it since august. I had to turn off the parking sensors so I could get out of the garage. I’m starting to hate this thing. Perusing around for other vehicle options.

Mine did that too and I turned off the auto brake since then. In my case the garage door is narrow and if don’t perfectly back out in the center, it thinks I am bumping into the side of the garage entrance.

I have a tight gate to back through. If I’m not perfectly straight and extremely slow it will brake. The first time I had to get out and take a close look because it really felt like I hit something. There is button on the dash to turn that system off quickly. I use it to back the boat in the water after disconnecting the 7 way plug.

Mine has done this in the garage, when parked outside with nothing around it, and at an intersection at a red light (blocked the lane, everyone behind me also missed the light, people honking, total shit show). It won't f*&^ing move despite having my seatbelt on, foot on brake, etc. The only solution is to cycle the ignition in my experience.

These cars are just a total mess.

Similar to others, this problem has occurred while backing out of a narrow garage. Just one time.
Edit: I don't have an "L" rather a '22 JGC Limited

Is this more common on the '21 vs. the '22 year models? Hopefully Jeep monitors these forums. Opportunity to get problem insights. Not everyone reports problems to the dealer and the dealer passing it back to Jeep.

Mine did the auto brake tee ice again tonight backing out of the garage. Once it was as the rear was clearing the door. Then again after I was half way out of the garage. Nothing in the way. It’s don’t it before. This thing is abrupt when it stops it. Thebford explorer we traded off would make a sound and stop but not in such a violent manner. I am beginning to not like this thing. Seriously considering trading it off for a 2022 explorer.
