Assistance + Navigation expiring???

Hello- recently took delivery of my GCL and I see that it says Assistance + Navigation expires in 3 months. I am not sure what this means for navigation after it expires. It mentions a lot of features that I more than likely won't use, but it mentions TomTom. Does anyone know what the navigation is like, or what you get if that expires?

My dealer did not mention this at all.

Been on the phone with UConnect and Sirius people and they are zero help. Sad that a $50k plus cars navigation would expire @JeepCares

I took delivery in September and the Jeep dashboard says three active services will expire in March/2022. I would certainly expect that navigation will not go away. There are enhanced services that may expire, but I don't know which. I suggest a call to your salesperson for an explanation. After all, he or she is the one who activated the services when you took delivery.

I also think it is just some add on features, like gas prices . I have had several Chrysler/ Jeep products with the nav, never had it go away. But nothing would suprise me anymore...

Yes, you are correct, you are now paying for everything. Understand, NAV will function always, updates to maps, advanced features will not, read carefully. You can view your services here... https://connect.jeep.com/us/en/dashboard. I navigate to this site once I log into mopar.com, clicking "jeep connect" button under connected services. The reason for these charges "I ASSUME" is because previous jeep models relied on Sirius to supply the services/data. Now, starting with the GCL, jeep is doing their own software/system themselves (why it doesn't work lol). As a result, they are monetizing it to recoup their investment. My assumption is that this applies to all FCA vehicles moving forward as they were paying Sirius for these services and rolling the cost into the vehicle. With people keeping vehicles longer, they was continuing to pay Sirius for these services, losing money long term. By going their own route, they have the ability to charge for it and disconnect it to prevent the older vehicles having such features.

They are now charging for these services. Want remote control via app? map updates? etc... I have attached pictures of my current subscriptions, yours may vary. I have called jeep to raise hell about this already, mine previously showed all of my services expiring in 3 months from when I drive off the lot. I have not had anything advanced in my app like service reports, vehicle health reports, gas level, mileage in my app until 12/10. I picked up in September. There was a pamphlet/advertisement in the jeep literature that stated I had XX months of these services, which didn't match my account online. Cant remember where I read this information, but was included with my purchase.

On my 2012 GC, I had a "friend" that would download the map updates DVD for me, I would throw it on a USB memory stick and load it into my GC nav. This stopped when they went towards newer Uconnect software. On my 2019 GC I had to do it a different, more complicated way, but still could be done. Now, they have essentially locked it all down and the only way to get map updates is to pay them directly. Previously the map updates came from a 3rd party.

The first picture showing expiration is the overall, the 3 additional pics show what's included in each of the 3 subscriptions. EDIT - added photo for length of trials, check yours to ensure you are getting the correct duration.

I can't even find anywhere how much ANY of these services cost. I haven't bought a new car in a while and just assumed I was BUYING all these features, not f(*&ing RENTING them. I pay cash for the car, it's mine. But no?

It even lists the 'assisted driving' as a rental feature! WTF? This is utter horse manure. As if none of it working on my FUBAR UConnect system wasn't bad enough, I can't even use it in the rental period because my whole Uconnect system is defective.

The prices are unavailable as they haven’t set them yet. Call them and ask how much lol, they won’t tell you. Sales brochures I have physical copies of state these features of Uconnect without disclosure of any current or future cost. Now they cost, now they are stated as costing additional monies in new brochures. It’s call bait and switch, which is very illegal. Just more fuel for lawyers.

You can buy better, but can’t pay more…

According to how i read the Nav section, NAV is going away if you don't pay. It is listed as one of the features that will expire, nothing anywhere says that it will stay.

TomTom Navigation

Never fumble for directions on your smartphone again. Uconnect® 5 with TomTom Navigation is an intuitive and advanced navigation system offering the most up-to-date map and location technology available. †

Never had to pay for Nav on several other Chrysler vehicles. Those were set up with Garmin as the NAV company, this is Tom Tom, so Stelanntis probably sees this as another way to wring more cash out of us poor suckers...

Such total BS that they didn't disclose this. I'm hoping that the basic nav will stay, you just won't get map updates, but who knows.

of course basic nav stays. You will lose maps updates, real time traffic data and all the other little live things they do. You can still use the navigation though, this isn't new to have a subscription for these things been around for a decade.

While not ideal, could you subscribe for a month and get all the updates then cancel the membership? Do this every year or 6 months? How often are routes changing that you are unfamiliar with or couldn’t use Google / Apple Maps

Although if you look at the features in the dashboard, map updates, and navigation are two different services.

Strange. None of this was disclosed when i bought the GCL last week. I did payextrabfor Navigation, so it seems odd i will have to pay a fee to use the equipment I already paid for.
Also, the features listed arent all available, sich VHR, fuel level, watch extension. Called Connected Services and there is no ETA on fix.

That does indicate that nav, real time traffic and map updates are 3 separate services. Does it indicate which ones require a subscription? Has anyone seen a full listing of which services require a subscription? I gather that prices for those that do aren't available yet, but it would be good to know which ones are on the clock.

Don't know if this matters or not, but I noticed yesterday that driving with a live map view the road/highway name and number as well as speed limit are now displayed along the bottom of the map. Wasn't there over the weekend.

I had a 2019 Cadillac XT5 before my GCL and it was the built in nav. The only thing i lost after the first year was the updates and traffic. Everything else was there. I'm going to be really mad if the sticker for my GCL say Nav and I have to pay extra for it. But I know what Jeep will say "Well it says Sat radio as well but you have to pay for that "

I bought my 21 GCL Overland in July. It appears these services were just activated on mine today. Until now my Mopar account has shown no subscriptions. One glaring omission in all of this is the cost of the subscriptions. There is another thread suggesting a class action, maybe that is not such a bad idea. All of this should have been disclosed very clearly upfront. Including costs of subscriptions.

Oh I forgot to mention…none of the connected services work anyway. The last location was updated on 10/10 and won’t update now, the remote start/horn/lock/unlock don’t work. I can’t see the neat features such as gas remaining or anything else.

This is a confusing situation that I hope will get clarified by comments from other owners. It's hard to tell if the absence of your services is due to a vehicle specific hardware or software failure, a failure of the dealer to properly activate all of your services, a global failure of what are now the FCA servers hosting these services, or the unannounced need to pay an unannounced amount to activate the services. Hopefully others that purchased those capabilities will chime in with their experiences.

So a friend of mine owns a Jeep dealership (not where I got me Jeep b/c they didn't have any) told me that there is a possibility that jeep will be extending these services beyond the 3 months of ownership b/c these have been out for longer thatn three months and they still don't have pricing up. He also said that they don't even have pricing for them.
