Anyone able to link key fob to driver profile?

I may be missing something, but think I'm following the directions in the owners manual... But our key fobs do not correspond to our driver profiles. Anyone make this work, or is this another 'bug' in the system? I'm fairly competent with computers, but may be missing a step.

The only question mark from the manual, for me, is it says to have the ignition off, which I'm not sure if that means 'engine off', or all the accessories off too (ie car completely turned off, which seems odd for programming purposes).

Also can't seem to sync my phone to my profile, nor will the car access my phone to make calls from UConnect while connected to CarPlay. Maybe that's by design?

(Posted to the UConnect forum, but it doesn't seem very well-trafficed)

Thanks for any advice.

We had this issue where the fob and profile would not sync up. There is a TSB to help. After the TSB, it seemed to have switched our profiles. At that point I gave up. Maybe one of these days when I have several hours to monkey with it, I'll try again.

Another user in a different thread mentioned seat memory issues due to having multiple profiles. He said that once he deleted multiple profiles, only made one, synced one fob to that profile it worked as intended. Seems like multiple profiles was the culprit.

I plan on doing this trick/work around to see if it fixes seat + phone profile issues. Like most, I made 2 profile right away and have nothing but problems. My Jeep is at dealership and cannot test.

Maybe worth a shot to try, obviously still an issue.

I setup ours with 2 profiles early on, linked those to the seat memory buttons, and then linked them to the key fobs. We had a wide range of issues after that with the seat memory going to the wrong places. At one point the car simply stopped remembering that my key was linked to seat position 2. Later the memory was lost linking position 1 and my wife’s key. Since that time I haven’t relinked the key fobs, we just press the seat memory buttons. I will say that our seat memory position recall to the wrong locations cleared up after that.

So there are definitely issues linking key fob to seat memory and profiles. With current software it seemed to cause more troubles than it was worth.

Lol @JeepCares really don’t care. They just tell you to go to the dealer and the dealer has no idea what to do. Been dealer with this since I had my L in September. Opened a star case and still not fixed.

It has the added bonus that every time my wife or I get in the car, we seem to be changing each other's preferences, which infuriates both of us. Kind of the opposite effect that having multiple profiles is supposed to have.🤦‍♂️

If you have the memory buttons in the door you can program that to a fob. So yes the overland can have it.
That's what I've tried to do, but it's not working. It's going in for a bunch of software updates and a recall next Monday, so hopefully that fixes it.

I have a GCL Overland and switching profiles with key fob works fine for the wife and I. I was expecting it to recognize which fob I had in my pocket to then just open the door and adjust however, I have to either use the fob to remote start it or unlock the door and then the profile/seats/mirrors/steering wheel begin to adjust.

Good to know, thanks. I was expecting the same. We don't usually lock our car, but I assumed whatever key was present for starting it would trigger the settings. I'll ask more about it when it goes for service on Monday.

Same, we have the Overland as well... I expected the vehicle to recognize the key fob, but if we both have ours with us I am not sure how that would work. It does seem to know if it is me or her in the drivers seat (I think) as our profiles load AFTER we with remote start, physically unlock with the key fob or start when in the drivers seat via start button. As I am 6' and my wife is 5'2" this can be an issue for me to get into the car so I always hit the #2 memory (my setting) on drivers and/or passenger side when getting in.

So one thing that worked for me, if you have issues actually setting the fob to the profile, was to hold the key over the start/stop button. I followed all the steps to the letter and it would not save the profile to the key. Once I hovered over the button and hit that lock sequence, it worked.

That means your fob battery is probably getting low.
