Hey, everyone. I was thinking no one had replied. I wasn't getting notifications (via email) so I went in my options and realized it wasn't a default, like most other forums. Probably a good thing for unwanted email, but I missed these replies... so I apologize.
For the V6, I think the engine is nearly up against the firewall to offset the center of gravity due to the longer wheelbase. I am not sure about the V8, but I would assume a similar offset for the same reasons.
I have the V8. There is more than enough room for a good many options. I've built a lot of cars over the years. What I'll admit is that I haven't looked at the clearance between hood and engine, simply because I'm not familiar with all average range of height the different brand blowers add. I don't feel the clearance is any less than other cars I've installed things on.
Whipple just started making a kit for the Durangos, maybe they will produce a kit for the GCL's, although they arent really considered a performance vehicle. If Jeep decides to produce an SRT version, then I am sure somebody will make a kit for that
That would be nice. I'd love to see a Whipple come to market. While the GCL isn't a performance vehicle, per se, these companies cater to a wide variety of vehicles. The Grand Cherokee in general has had a lot of different options over the years (even the V6 models, which are a lot less of a performance option than the V8).
I guess the main thing I'd like to figure out is whether or not the 5.7L in the GC and GCL are essentially the same configuration (belts, clearance, etc). If so, anything that comes out for the non-L should be a viable option.
From what I understand, the 5.7L is pretty boost-friendly. Just from calling around, it seems ProCharger has a kit (but doesn't guarantee fitment on the GCL), Magnuson is working on a kit for the 5.7L, and Hellion is working on a twin turbo kit as well (which would be awesome, as I just put their twin sleeper kit on my 2019 Mustang GT).
I'll update this thread if I find out anything more.
