Another Recall : Headlights : Smart Light Module

I was looking at my Jeep app and saw another recall pop up Y72/NHTSA 21V-950. The Smart Light Module (SLM) gets reprogrammed. Here is the official Link. Looks like there is an issue with Federal guidelines vs. what the software has the lights doing.

How about a recall on the transmission valve bodies? That’s what we really need.
Agree 100% but it’s not safety related so it may only show up as a TSB at some point. FCA doesn’t care about spending money unless they have to. Wish we would have bought the new Acura MDX instead.

You mean auto manufacturers, or more realistically any company that makes money. It’s not FCA as if they are cheap, it’s any company selling a product to make money!

It is probably the light flickering issue that I had before dawn one morning. Totally blind with lights flickering at the same time my power steering failed.

NHTSA does accept complaints. Go here to report any and every issue not matter how petty. Take the time to pepper jeep with so many real issues they are ignoring.

File your complaint here, at least these folks listen…

Jeep, are you listening yet?

Hello, Jasco2! If I remember it correctly, Jeep company was saying that in their new cars will be new smart light features. I think you can sue them for this case, especially for reprogramming the software without your knowledge. As was suggested by eleceng1979, you need to send the complaints about this situation and make them fully replace your car, coz you cannot be confident that they cannot be involved in other car systems. All this situation made me get back to my old car and forget about the modern car systems.

I just had this (and the airbag one) done. The notes imply to me no software update was performed for the headlights which seems odd. Looks like the tech decided "yup, headlights work." The airbage one mentions a flash.

On a side note, I think they should just rotate the tires as a courtesy considering Jeep wants to be in the luxury category (or at least call and ask me). I'm at 6100mi. This dealer seems like a cocky location in general with their ridiculous markups (+$10k on SR WL74 and +$50k on 2021 Trackhawk...)

If there is a TSB recall they have to do the update by law it’s not up to the tech
