RE: 2021 Grand Cherokee L, 3.6L

Air filter
I have searched for filters and thought I found an air filter on Amazon since it said: "guaranteed to fit your vehicle". This is not true! The filter sent to me was square, The L has a specific shape. I returned it....no big deal.

Cabin air filter
I found the filter part number on a Mopar parts site and did the cross-reference look-up, and found one. Ordered from Amazon and this was not it either. I returned it....no big deal.

My question is this, are there really no aftermarket filters available yet? Do we need to buy from the dealer (or online dealer Mopar sites)?

Cabin Air Filter: 68542125AA ~$27
Engine Air Filter: 68542769AA ~$28

Both look to be about the same price everywhere. There are some filter from napa you can get if you don't want OEM, they are similar price also.

Amazon lists several that say they will fit my car, but the reviews says they don't, so I haven't ordered any. I asked the dealer to replace the air filter when I had my oil changed, but they said it didn't need to be replaced yet. (first time that's ever happened to me).

Sounds like a good dealer. Basically if you can see sun light through it you are good. Usually that's around 15k miles that it needs replacing.

I recently took my vehicle in for service and was told that both filters needed to be replaced; however, my service advisor stated that both were on backorder and even if they weren't, I wasn't going to pay $125 for them to replace both. I went to both Autozone and O'Reilly Auto Parts and only O'Reilly had one option for the engine air filter which was square and did not fit my vehicle.

I'm not finding any results on Amazon that fit my vehicle, so not sure what to do. Surprising that a 2 year old vehicle doesn't have aftermarket filters available.

Helpful videos, although, ironic that even OP states that he's having a hard time finding replacement filters. Seems that those of us with early production 2021 models will also have to worry about using a different part number for the cabin filter.

Yep, the cabin filter that Amazon said was correct for the L was not and I had to return it. I looked everywhere , they are not easy to find. The one in my L is about 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 . I wonder if they changed the size needed along the way ?

Is the 2021 L filter different than the 2023 L filter…or is it a case that when they look up 2021, it finds the old Grand Cherokee non-L and recommends it incorrectly?

The CABIN air filter did change for the L. Here is the info :

Item # 68542125AA (For vehicles built BEFORE 5/9/2022)
Item # 68608193AA (For vehicles built ON or AFTER 5/9/2022)

I don't think finding one online from the various MOPAR sites is the issue (the shipping is ridiculous). It's the fact that for a 2+ year old model, there are still no local aftermarket alternatives available.
Find a place with free shipping. Honestly it would probably cost more to drive some place, wait in line, buy it and drive home than what they are charging for shipping.

Silly, Only the quality parts come from autozone, not the internet. If we don’t pay 3X due to middlemen, what will they do?
