After dealer updated my uConnect system the paddle shifting no longer works

I had the vehicle in for an oil change, a third row seat issue, and a couple of recalls.

On the way home I notice the uConnect system was different. I figure that update is what caused this current issue. When I try to use the paddles a message comes up saying "Paddle shifting disabled". I went through every single item in system settings but there is no option to enable/disable the paddles.

I plan on calling them tomorrow. Just wanted to see if anyone here had/has this issue?

Yup, I have the same problem and my jeep just went out of warranty. So unless it’s OTA or recall, I bet the dealership charges for it

Honestly it's a terrible feature in a SUV land yacht and not needed so take it as a blessing. At the same time it's a feature you paid for and was advertised as such so you should get it. Jeep dropped the ball and needs to fix it.

Why do you say it’s terrible? I was using the paddles constantly on certain roads. They’re far more responsive when you’re on hilly, windy roads.

They are just a toy in a 5000lbs suv. I can think of zero scenarios where you would gain anything from shifting manually vs just letting the transmission do it.

Unless you don’t know how to use it properly, which I’m sure a good chunk of people don’t, then yeah, you’ll come up with zero reasons.

Like I and the other commenter mentioned, there are scenarios where it just works better than automatic.

The Jeep likes to fumble around gear changing way too much. Using the paddles, I can tell it to stay in the gear it needs to be in. The Jeep has no memory of the roads I travel on often. There are plenty of times where I reach the top of a hill and the Jeep wants to upshift. However, I know for a fact that 2 seconds after reaching the top of the hill another hill emerges. I can keep it in gear myself, rather than having it upshift just to immediately downshift again.

Much smoother ride.

If you don't like the feature, that's fine, I don't care. But you acting real weird right about now pretending like everyone needs to be like you. If you like it, everyone must. If you dislike it, everyone must. Only your input matters. It's cool if you don't need it or if you don't understand it yourself. But like, can I just live?

I would agree with you if the gear knob had a 1 and 2 on it, but without that, the paddles are the only way to put it into low gears. I would much rather not have the paddle shifters, but I do require low gear on occasion.

I had the same issue, press the assist button tell them you paddle shifters are disabled but you warranty is over. It’s a known issue they will create a case and authorize the dealer to fix it no charge. I had my done at no cost 72k miles, no extended warranty’s

Really? That's interesting. I have never once pressed an assist button in any vehicle I've ever driven... It never occurred to me you could open a support case with them.
