Active Steering drives like a drunken sailor sometimes, very 'straight and narrow' other times?

Not in my case. I drove 1500 miles home after picking it up in Arkansas. I could be driving down the highway with it 'drunkenly' swerving back and forth (pretty actively swerving, enough that it would prompt a cop to stop you, and then get off to get gas (cycling the ignition) and then get back on the SAME pavement that had all been laid and painted at the same time, and relatively new/well-marked, and the swerving would be gone. It seems like something in the code that needs to be fixed, like it's getting hung up on a line of code instructing it to 'hunt' or something. It should maybe do that once, and then center itself and stay in the middle. It acts like it's extremely near-sighted and can't remember how far away the other line was.

That's also why I was hoping we get whatever improvements they're discussing as 'coming in 2022', because as it stands this is like a beta-test product. The fact that it sometimes does just fine (no swerving), and can go either way on the same stretch of pavement, is what makes me think it's a coding issue, perhaps hardware-involved, who knows.

I have driven my GCL of a relatively new highway where the striped white, solid white, and solid yellow lines were crystal clear and it was a sunny day (and this is the only time I try this) - and the vehicle sways between the the two lines. Again, it's a nice "look at me" feature, but not close to being ready for prime time. Not trying to poo poo on the GCL. My 21 MB GLE450 does the same thing.

So it's a hardware upgrade, and we lowly 2021 owners will not get these improvements?
Correct, its not really an improvement, just allows you take your hand off the wheel. With how light you have to touch it in a 2021 It may be better to not have to stare straight forward all the time like in the 2022

I like the alcohol comment - great wit! I'm thinking we won't see any improvement with any manufacturer until the 2027 models -- my thoughts, I know.
