2nd row bench

Long story short, my wife hates the bucket seats in the second row. How impossible would it be to buy the bench and install it? Anyone have any remote experience with this?

I’m almost here too but it is I who hate the buckets and she who likes them.

I thought about it for a hot second but wonder if the bench uses the same mount points as the buckets or if significant changes would be required.

I feel like getting the bench from Jeep alone would probably cost $2000.

Yeah I'm scared to even call the dealer lol. We picked it up Friday and she already is asking to take it back. I had to explain i don't think it works like that.

I always preferred the bench until I actually got the buckets and now I see their usefulness. Getting to the third row or leaving it with a bench seat is a major PIA. Much easier and more practical with buckets. Sure you lose that middle seat but I don’t think anyone actually likes sitting in that position anyway. I don’t miss the bench seat at all. I suppose the one drawback is with stuff in the back when the third row is down. It leaves a space in the middle that isn’t there w a bench. That hasn’t turned into a problem though.

Looks like I'm garaging it until the 2 row comes out and just hope the trade in values are still really good by then. Then she won't even have a choice it will be a bench for sure.

I have a bench. I can post pictures of floor to see if it’s even the same? Let me know

That would be awesome thank you maybe I could find a bench through my salesman at his price because I'm sure trying to swap the vehicle out is going to be a nightmare thankfully we have only drove it 50 miles or so.

I thought it was bizarre that the the Overland+ models came standard with the buckets and had a 700 charge for the bench... I went with the bench because we have a dog, and didn't think the buckets would work well... PS, stop making your wife sit in the back seat :p

So looks like about $1600 pre tax and shipping.

Then again, do all of the mount points from the buckets work the same or are changes needed?

If someone were to do this and report back that 1) it does mount easily (defined as a 2-3 hour job) and that 2) no actual modifications are required, then I may consider it.

Or maybe I would be better off trying to find someone with a bench who wants to swap for buckets, though the odds of that are likely slim and slimmer yet that they would be within any reasonable driving distance.

I highly doubt the mounting locations are different. The floor pan will be the same across all configurations. Like in the Rams, folks swap the rear full bench for the 60/40 split bench. The full bench doesn't have a mounting bracket in the center, but the holes are there under the carpet. Same with the Ram guys thst switch the front center bench seat for the full floor console, all mounting locations are there.

Go watch some videos on YouTube on the factory assembly process. The main chassis and body parts are the same. Once the vehicle goes into D or D1 status (I think), that step is "gathering parts for build". The parts are different, but the platform is the same. This makes for quick and efficient assembly. These vehicles are built in about 8 hours start to finish.

I'm interested in swapping my Overland second row buckets for a bench as well. Better/bigger flat load floor (for camping/sleeping occasionally), better for dog, better for kid to lie down once in a while with seats up, and adds passenger capacity for occasional use. I couldn't find a single V8 Overland in the country with a bench when I bought mine in early December.

I was positive that the lower trims used to come standard with a manual folding bench seat so I was going to suggest telling your dealer you'd like to swap with somebody and maybe they'd suggest it to somebody who buys a Laredo, but I just double checked and now it appears that all models come with the buckets standard with the $695 option to put in a bench seat. Doubtful there will be many people who opt for the bench seat only to swap it with you :( Be careful though, if you do find someone to swap and they have a lower trim, it won't be a power folding seat, and they wouldn't have the buttons in theirs to power fold your seats....

It would have to come from an Overland. The leather is different and they are 'power folding' in the sense that you can remotely trigger them to go down (but not up). I would imagine the electrical connections are all the same, as are the mounting points (at least mostly).
