21 GCL Overland Off-Road Question

Hi All - GCL Newbie here:
I've had my GCL since last November and am just getting around to trip planning with it. My overland is 4WD, but has quadratrac II and does not have an eLSD. Has anyone taken one similar offroad, i'm not looking to do some crazy rock climbing, but for some standard mountain trails that maybe wet how would it do?

Also, I have the 20" rims and would want to to a AT tire, any suggestions for replacement?

Thank you!

For what you're doing, tires will be more important than an eLSD, as the existing brake-based system will still get you through more than you'll likely try anyway. The only real concern is mud and street tires, if you have the stock tires. Even then, I would still go. You should be fine, and if in doubt either use momentum, find a way around anything bad, or you can always turn around. I wouldn't 'not go', though.

I have the same Overland GCL and replaced my stock tires with Cooper Rugged Trek tires of the same factory size.
They work much better for snow and ice, and I expect they will also shine on offroad trails.

Our eLSD didn’t make the build either and it bothered me at first but the types of trails we have been hitting hasn’t stopped us one bit. Agree with Sarge

You should watch some of Prodigal’s latest vids. There’s a WK2 with same 4WD system as you and gives a great depiction of your capability (assuming you get tires). Look for the rig with red traction boards on top

Agreed. Best thing you can do with the QT2 during tire spin is to hold the throttle pretty consistently and the Jeep will figure it out. A basic mountain trail will be cake.

Also, if you're having problems with certain terrain, it can help to put it in 4 low, as I understand that will at least lock the center diff, and the gearing will give you better control by multiplying the torque and allowing easier throttle modulation (ie use smaller throttle inputs).

FWIW, my dealer just tried to order a replacement for my buyback, and told me they're still not allowing orders for the Off Road Group, but they are taking Trailhawk orders... so they have SOME eLSD's, but not enough to go around.
