2022 GCL Purchase

If you're asking about the eLSD, the replacement is a conventional differential. In terms of performance, the delete effectively makes it a quadra-trac 2 system rather than the quada-drive 2.
Thank you for the feedback. On order sheet, they are applying a $400 credit for this being missing. Just didn't seem like that much of a credit. I wonder if this feature could be added at a later date?

You cannot add it after the fact, except maybe at great cost, due to the software integration. That’s what I’ve been told.

That holds true for nearly anything on the car that is computer-integrated.

I agree. $400 is really not a fair deal for the customer... It might be their cost, but no one on our end would ever be able get that feature for that price on any make or model.

Unfortunately, they seem to be doing this to get people to upgrade to the Summit Reserve package to get what they advertised as a standard feature for Overland and up. I think Overlands have it, but you also loose some of the nice interior options. As for adding an eLSD later, it is probably impossible. Even if it is possible, it will undoubtedly cost more than upgrading to the Summit Reserve up front since it requires an entirely different rear axle, and likely ties into the onboard computer.

One more thought... the quada-trac 2 system is a very capable system and can handle quite a lot of off-road situations pretty well. If you don't intend to off-road, it won't make any difference.

When I bought my Overland V8 in December, I couldn't find a single one with the Off Road Group (how you get the eLSD in the Overland). My local dealer told me about a month ago that they were told orders with 'Off Road Group' option packages were currently not likely to arrive until mid summer at the earliest. I think some of the Summit or Summit Reserves were still getting the eLSD, but I'm not entirely clear whether that was being withheld on those, either.

I very well may be incorrect about the Overlands. The GCL Summit Reserve does including the eLSD and its a required delete on the Summit. However, it looks like there are eLSD deletes on the WL74 Summit Reserves. I am not sure if it applies to all WL74 SRs or just some built in a specific time frame -- but I found a WL74 SR today with an eLSD delete, which surprised me: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=1C4RJHET5N8517759

Well, we have a 2022 GCL Summit and are very pleased with it. We have the v6 and while it's not a powerhouse, we knew that would be the case. However, for a nice sized SUV we are getting 20mpg around town. The amenities and features are great, and as to be expected some of the tech is a little glitchy, but upgradable via software updates. Other than that, a solid very comfortable vehicle for the money. We left an Audi A7 for this and we are not disappointed. Apples and oranges comparing an SUV to a sports sedan, but the features are quite nice, and we don't miss the A7, much... Unless we want speed... But the A7 didn't like going off road or over potholes... ;)

On the Overland, you have to opt for the Off Road Group package (18" wheels, skid plates, and eLSD). The problem was they haven't been making many, if any of those due, I'm told, to supply chain problems with all three things. Last month, my dealer told me I'd have to wait for mid summer to get all of that on a new order, and they were being advised not to sell that package due to the delays. Personally, I'd wait, and hope I might also get the new I6TT hybrid and Midnight Sky blue. (I'm in the process of trying to do a 'trade assist' where my dealer will take my car in and Jeep gives me a deal on a replacement).

I have since decided to cancel my order and wait things out. It’s a beautiful car but with supply chain issues, Russia prob causing more, and the gremlins with the car I will most probably sit on the sidelines for 6m to 1y in the hopes most of these problems get fixed and then reconsider.

I would too at this point. That and the new I6TT hybrid is very interesting. But it would probably be advisable to wait a bit after that launches as well.
