Hi guys - Thinking of buying a grand cherokee L, however, looking at all the issues being reported here i might as well wait few more months as i'm in no rush, never owned Jeep's before.
Is there any difference between 2021 and 2022 model year? ... interested in V8 which is available only in overland and above i guess.

Thanks for any inputs!

Other than full hands off autonomy on Overland and up I don’t think any other changes. Overland has it as an option. Summit and SR it is standard.

You will most likely have more for/finish, better quality build and less buggy software due to more recent updates and firmware. The big issue with waiting is price increases. This vehicle is early, there could still be some good price hikes come between now and end of spring.

You mean like Tesla autopilot kinda autonomous? That would be great and is that going to be a standard in overland or extra $?

I just bought a '21 Overland V8 4x4. I was told by the dealer that the '22 Overland models will not be getting the adjustable air suspension. Something to ask about, may or may not be true.

I had to buy by the end of the year for tax reasons, so they weren't saying that to hard sell me on buying a '21 vs '22 (ordering wasn't an option for me), but just mentioned it as 'you're better off getting this one now anyway'.

That's not true, and its actually the opposite. Air suspension and tow package are no longer required deletions on the 2022. Its coming standard on Overland/Summit regardless if its V6/V8 or Reserve package

On Jeep website there is no mention of air suspension when you build it. Only normal duty suspension.

Sort of yes, but not as sophisticated (my guess). You are permitted to take your hands off the steering wheel, and leave them off so long as the driver remains focused on the road. I don't know the specifics on when you can do that (ie highway only) and at what speeds it would allow it (ie anything over 55mph only can you have "hands off"). There's a good link below from motor trend discussing it. Overlands and up are all now considered level 2 and have it as standard. The hands off feature is considered Level 2A, or more likely Level 2 Plus and is standard on the Summit and SR. For the Overland it is a feature ($2,000 tech upgrade) that is available for add on.

Normal duty suspension is what all the trims have. The Quadra-Lift Air Suspension isn't really a suspension, it's more of an airbag raise/lower setup that aids in ride quality. It's in addtion to the normal duty suspension, not in lieu of. Quadra-Lift is currently not mentioned on the Jeep site because they scrubbed it from the site when they started removing it from all 21 trims. The website doesn't yet directly list the MY 22, where they would presumably put it back on the features list/comparison section.

And just like that... the MY 22 GCL finally has it's own place on the website. You can see that Tow, Quadra-Lift and the eLSD are all back to standard features for the Overland, Summit and SR!

The level 2+ is going to be the same on 22 as it is on 21. The only difference is that they going to address hands off driving by retrofitting a camera to monitor that the driver is paying attention (in 21 there are sensors on the steering wheel so a hand on the steering wheel is require to ensure driver is paying attention)

In terms of capability it’s going to be the same, and it going to be nothing like Tesla’s (like autonomous lane changing and overtaking)

GCls just has a more advanced adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. In 22 it just can be operated hands off.

Tests spends a boat load of money of research and literally $0 on marketing and adds. Stelantis/Jeep is completely the opposite

Go to jeep website choose GCL and 2022 tab is on top left. To see all standard features for each model go to build and scroll down to summary you will see link.

That’s 2022 GC, not GCL
No it's not, do a little more looking around there lol. The GC and GC L are the same other than the 3rd row. So for 2022 it looks like they have consolidated down to just landing page for both. Now when you go to the GCL and click on the 2022 it brings you to a page for the GC overall. Everything is the same on them other than one is longer. When you go to build you will now see you have the option to select 2 row or 3 row from the drop down. Also the features and comparison are updated to reflect the 2022 GCL features list.

The landing page literally shows a GCL side by side with a GC 4xe. When you scroll down you'll even see features specific to the GCL (overland 3 rows).

Ok. I’m able to see it now.

For 22, On the limited they stopped offering the tow package, and the luxury tech II group packages!?
Why?

I’m so glad I was able to get both those options on my 21 limited.

Looks like price got raised for 22 GCLs too
