2021 Grand Cherokee L Altitude - W/ Auto Transport

Had to tow my other car 200+ miles in my 2021 Altitude. RPM was a bit high throughout the trip and it was in the 4-5th gear most of the time on the highway. I read the owners manual and it said that it tries to stay in a low gear to avoid constant gear changes. Transmission temperature came up to around 200F which was still below the half way mark. I think this weight combination is probably in the high end of what it can tow without much of a struggle.

That looks like an easy load overall. Very little windage or drag, relatively light. Often times manufacturers will include guidance on towing limits with certain grade limits, speeds, windage, etc, but I can't find anything in the Jeep owners manual to that end. If you have the factory tow package with the auxiliary coolers, etc, you should be well within the 6200 lbs limit with that setup, and it's not a big boxy camper with a lot of drag or anything that should cause additional strain at higher speeds. You can always use the paddles to put it in taller gears. The instant fuel economy readings and temp gauges will tell you if you're making better choices for your scenario than what the car is choosing for you. I've found I get an extra 1-2mpg by using taller gears in manual mode when just cruising, but I have a Hemi, with more low end torque than the V6.
