There are two options in e-save, you can use "Battery save" mode to tell it to keep the charge level where it is, so it won't drain the battery from its current level, or you can use "Battery Charge" mode to not drain the battery and charge until full. With Max-regen enabled the electric motor...
The 4xe in the wrangler does this, you can tell it to save battery and charge it from coasting and braking, so it doesn't lose any charge, then put it back into hybrid or electric only when you want it.
It's a bit hard justifying the diesel just for Australia, they sell maybe 150 diesels a month. And they are hardly bullet proof and proven, the spun bearing issues have continued on to the recent models. If you really want the ecodiesel, you could get the RAM.
The Hybrid won't have any issues...
