Word is the 2022 2 row Jeep Grand Cherokee will arrive in Australia with a choice of the
Petrol Penstar
- Too thirsty and under powered for towing

Two litre turbo Hybrid unproven and problems recharging in remote locations

Hemi V8
everyone loves a V8 but high fuel prices in Australia will restrict sales
.
That leaves us with the 3 litre V6 bullet proof tried and proven Diesel.
Plenty of power tons of torque and economical on fuel This makes a great towing vehicle( Caravans) and Exellent off road

ALL the serious 4WD SUVs made by Toyota Nissan Ford ALL have Diesel engines because they do the job we use them for the best!!

Please Jeep drop the V6 petrol Penstar and KEEP the DIESEL for Australia!

It's a bit hard justifying the diesel just for Australia, they sell maybe 150 diesels a month. And they are hardly bullet proof and proven, the spun bearing issues have continued on to the recent models. If you really want the ecodiesel, you could get the RAM.

The Hybrid won't have any issues with charging in remote locations, you don't need to recharge it to drive it, just use petrol if you can't get a charge.

I think the PHEV is an interesting option, just wish their implementation had the capability to recharge from the ICE like the Volvo PHEVs do. A 2 litre turbo petrol would be more than adequate for long distance cruising on relatively flat roads but I'd rather have battery capacity left for when I do get to hills or towns.

The 4xe in the wrangler does this, you can tell it to save battery and charge it from coasting and braking, so it doesn't lose any charge, then put it back into hybrid or electric only when you want it.

Not the same BennO. Yes it can recover braking energy but overall you're still draining the battery. On the Volvos and others you can use the ICE's alternator to recharge the battery to full.

There are two options in e-save, you can use "Battery save" mode to tell it to keep the charge level where it is, so it won't drain the battery from its current level, or you can use "Battery Charge" mode to not drain the battery and charge until full. With Max-regen enabled the electric motor (P1F) on the engine will take charge like an alternator and charge the battery while coasting.

If that's the case then awesome, bring it on. Alas I think the 2 row 4xe is some time away from landing here. 😕

Yeah, and I guess we would want to wait a couple years to iron out the bugs too. Might end up in the V6.
