Sync phone to key fob?

I have an Overland with all the tech packages, and I'm failing to figure out how to sync my phone to my key fob and my wife's to hers (so that whoever is driving has their phone automatically selected via CarPlay).

Also, when mine is connected via carplay, I can't pull up any phones in the UConnect phone system, it just says 'phone not connected', even though I'm sitting there listening to music on Spotify via wireless CarPlay.

Went out this AM and despite following the directions in the owners manual my key did not trigger my 'profile' settings as set last night. At least I thought they were set. I'm reasonably competent with computers (have a Hackintosh among others, but not a programmer) so either this system is not working properly or I'm missing a step. In the interest of preventing further marital discord, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone has any tips.

The way I did it was one phone at a time and don't even have the other phone near the car. Basically setup phone 1 and your profile and confirm your phone is selected as a favorite in the connect a phone settings page (I forget the real name).

Then remove phone 1 from the area so it can't connect to Bluetooth. Then setup phone 2 for profile 2 and make sure it's selected as the favorite also.

I do this because I find using the favorite 1 vs favorite 2 settings don't seem to work with AA/carplay. It will connect both phones but didn't seem to honor the favorite order. My way only has 1 phone set for each profile, second phone doesn't even connect.

Thanks, I will try again tomorrow and see if that helps. Ideally, whoever walks up to the car and turns it on should have their phone autoconnect and their settings triggered with unlocking. I can't seem to make anything like that happen so far.
