Jeep buyback! Serious brake problems.

I started having serious issues with the braking system on my 2021 GCL Limited. The GCL only had 300 hundred miles on it when the problem started. After spending 3 weeks at the dealership Jeep decided to do a buyback and replace it with a 2022 GCL Overland. I ordered the new GCL in October and the vehicle arrived on 12/23/21.
At this point they are waiting for paperwork to complete the deal.
The big problem with all of this is, they have me driving the 2021 GCL with the same serious brake problems. I can be driving down the highway and the brake light on the dash starts flashing on and off faintly. Then you can feel the brakes engaging and the vehicle starts to shutter. Not one person from Jeep or the dealership has told me to stop driving it or bring it into the dealership. Hopefully paperwork will get done this week

I’m in the middle of a buyback as well. I’m curious…what paperwork is holding up your deal? If it’s something you can share…Thanks

I think it’s the paperwork from my original purchase. The dealers are in no hurry to do anything with buybacks.

First, have you confirmed the dealer does indeed have the new 2022 AT the dealer, or is it enroute or something else? If they do have it then.... Engage JeepChat by calling them and opening a case then start escalating ASAP. They have rental options they can, and should absolutely provide you. I would also get ahold of the GM at the dealership and start very politely, but firmly, saying this needs to be completed before the end of the week. Let them know you have opened a ticket with JeepCares and have begun to escalate it. I would also do some google searching for Jeep customer reps that you could send hail marry emails to. On each you find CC the dealership emails so they know you have begun reaching out to all sorts of people you can find. Then also politely ask for the Regional Rep and explain it's because the vehicle has sat for too long and you are not happy with the lack of progress and you are ready to take the next step forward.

Nobody can make you drive anything. If you feel its unsafe don’t drive it?
While this sounds spot on on the surface, life is often not as simple as that.
For many people who have just invested $50k or $60k or even $70K in a vehicle, it’s impossible to reinvest in another $50k or $60 or even a $20k vehicle. In those cases your choices may be to continue to drive the defective vehicle or stay home and not go shopping or to work or anywhere else. That is not realistic.

Just too clear up any misconceptions, the dealer is the problem. I’ve had this GCL for 6 months now, it spent the first month in the service department total of 3 visits. My patients grew very thin with the dealership and the Jeep technician’s. After picking up the car after the second visit, you would have thought the cast of Moonshiners worked on it. On a whim, I sent an email to the head of Jeep about the situation and surprisingly got a response the next day. My case was turned over to the head of customer care and the gentleman called me that day. I explained the situation to him and he recommended replacing the vehicle for me. I was told to go to the dealer I ordered it from and order one of my liking. Jeep itself has been fantastic throughout this whole process. My whole problem is with the worthless dealership’s service department. The general manager has been semi nice trying to rectify the problem, wink wink.

The car is sitting on the lot and I should get it this week. Once I do, they will never see me again.
PS Jeep corporate was down for the holidays 12/23 to 01/03, that was some of the delays.

What trim/motor/drivetrain configuration are all these braking problems happening on? There's a lot of various posts, and it would be nice to know (over time) whether these are V6/V8, 4x4/4x2, etc, in case its something some owners have to worry about, and others don't.

If you truly feel that your life is in danger then seek alternate means. We are talking about folks buying 60k cars. They should have the means for alternate transportation. If there is a buyback in the works there should be a case open with Jeep and a rental would be reimbursed.

Again…sounds good on the surface but it’s not always that simple. Maybe there should be alternative transportation provided as part of a buyback, but not necessarily. I’m going through a buyback and nothing of the sort is part of my deal. And just because someone scrapes up enough to spend $60k or $10k or $100k it doesn’t in anyway indicate they can come up with yet another $60k or $10K or $1k. That’s not logical.

I'm trying to find a contact at corporate as well. I'm pretty sure I know their email naming convention, but assume people at that level do not have time to care, nor are they expected/tasked to care about individual customers. In my case, I'm proposing a deal that would require some corporate assurances/concessions re replacement vehicle, and would save them ~$30k-$40k vs a lemon law buyback, but that's a rounding error to people at that level.

Unfortunately, my dealer says their local rep is no help either. Any contact info/suggestions would be much appreciated. PM me if the info needs to remain confidential, I won't go burning the whole place down or anything, just trying to find someone reasonable to work with. 'Jeep Cares' is no help either, they're too far down the ladder apparently.
