I’m in the exact same position. Wondering based on the other posts if its a decision due to parts availability rather than “readiness”?There’s one “late availabilty“ option left that’s preventing me from ordering a ‘22 GC 4xe SR, and that’s Hands-Free ADA. I’d really appreciate it if somebody would drop a post in this thread when it comes up for ordering!
This other quote makes it seem like a standalone subscription:The Hands-Free Active Driving Assist system requires an active subscription through Jeep® Connect (Uconnect Connected Services) package. If the ADA on/off button is pushed without an active subscription, the instrument cluster display will show the message “Active Driving Assist Unavailable Update Subscrip-tion”. Refer to the Uconnect Owner’s Manual Supplement for further information.
It talks all about hands-free starting on page 156 (manual attached).Hands-Free System Deactivation (If Equipped)

The subscription for the Hands-Free system is expired.
If equipped with Hands-Free ADA, the light strips in the driver’s and front passenger’s door panels will also change to green indicating ADA is engaged.
Other GCL owners have reported seeing that on their Jeep Connect account, but it really shouldn’t be there, as I don’t believe that any 2021 or 2022 GC or GCL that has been delivered to a customer to date has the interior camera that actually allows you to use Hands-Free ADA.My Jeep connect app does show the Hands free Highway assist as active on my 2022 Overland L

It has its own subscription in Jeep Connect Connected Services, but when you purchase the Hands-Free ADA option, you apparently get it free for the first 3 years. (I have no idea what the subscription cost is after that.)Did some more digging.
I was reading more into the owner's manual and it looks like the hands-free ADA also requires a subscription. Not sure if it's an add-on or just part of the Uconnect Connected Services.
I’m not just assuming it’s not possible to add later—this article specifically says that adding Hands-Free ADA as a post-sale add-on is not part of Jeep’s strategy. That report could be wrong, though, and the part price.fallin found is a good clue that it might be!The camera is not there yet for anyone.
But you are assuming it wont be possible to add it later. You are also assuming its a mistake that it shows on the connect services.
I guess we will see later
I'm not saying I currently have Hands-free, my point is that just like it could certainly be a mistake in my Jeep connect to show this, it can also be possible this could be added later if the only hardware addition is the monitoring camera.I’m not just assuming it’s not possible to add later—this article specifically says that adding Hands-Free as a post-sale add-on is not part of Jeep’s strategy. But I’m very confident that Jeep Connect is mistaken in showing that you have Hands-Free ADA, because that‘s not even possible for your vehicle at this time. But you don’t have to take my word for it—you can test it yourself. If you have Hands-Free, then when you engage ADA, the light strips in the front door panels will turn green. (The instrument console bezel lighting should turn green at this point whether you have Hands-Free ADA or Base ADA). If you then take your hands off the wheel, the ADA indicators will stay green, rather turn yellow or red. If these things don’t happen, then you don’t have Hands-Free, and Jeep Connect should not say that you do.
Ok been looking around and I noticed something very interesting. If you look just behind the steering wheel but on the steering wheel you will notice the driver monitoring camera on the 2022 Summit and 2022 Summit Reserve. Another piece I found interesting:
The (seemingly) good news...
When I looked up "driver monitoring camera" I found this part in the Mopar online catalog:
View attachment 2019
It states that it's made to fit the 2021 GCLs which leads me to believe that the models that aren't shipped with it can have it added later. This part looks to me exactly like what is shown in the pictures/illustrations on their website for the 2022 models.
Scroll down to "LET's GET INTO IT" section and you can scroll different models. Notice the change when you get to the Summits!!Ok been looking around and I noticed something very interesting. Here is a pic that I copied. At the link above you can scroll to different models. Notice that camera only appears on the Summits. Very interesting!!
I hope my Summit will have the 'hands free' function added via software since I already have the camera installed for monitoring my drowsiness. Wait and see I guess!Ok, so does anyone have the camera (bump/notch whatever monitoring device on top of the steering wheel) actually in their Summit or Summit Reserve? I could have SWORN when I ordered my MY 22 at the end of November I saw that it had Hands Free Active driving but I can't find it anywhere. I just check my build sheet and I see several things but no mention specifically of "Hands Free..." but I do have a drowsy driver detection feature and I'm curious how it does that without the camera.
I did try the feature last night for Active driving, it worked great but as others have noted I was not able to leave my hands off the steering wheel for more than 10 seconds before it started warning me to place them back on. Also, my Jeep app DOES say "Hands-Free Highway Assist" is green under the health section. WTF JEEP????
Wondering if I should just try and order the camera. But like other things with Jeep I then wonder if I have to pay a $100 fee to the dealer for a flash to turn on the feature - which no doubt they will all be completely clueless about.
