Anyone else have a windshield broker on their GCL? We had a hawk hit ours and shattered it. Problem is there are no aftermarket glass available and Mopar so far has no ETA on OEM glass. Its been over 3 weeks of waiting. Anyone else experience this at all?

Hard to drive the car with a shattered Windshield.

I seem to recall seeing a post a few months ago about windshields being hard to come by for the GCL. I have a big crack in mind and need to get it replaced soon.

I had a cracked windshield too. Luckily it was still drive-able. Waited a few weeks for a replacement, but unfortunately the OEM replacement was defective and had bubbles inside the glass, right in my field of view. Dealer ordered another windshield in July and it did not come in until mid-September. Luckily this second one was clean with no defects. Seems like the wait for replacement glass just gets longer and longer.

I just got a chip in my windshield and Safelite was out to repair and as they were cleaning out the chip, they cracked the windshield. I've been informed by Safelite:

"Unfortunately, the glass needed for your appointment is currently not in stock at our local warehouses and will be coming from Jeep direct. The ETA for the glass to arrive at the dealer 10/26. Once that has been delivered to our warehouse we will reach back out to get you rescheduled as the current appointment had to be cancelled."

So 10/26 isn't bad (assuming that date will hold) so perhaps there is hope for others waiting on new glass.

You are so lucky. Safelite still does not have an ETA on ours. At least they were about to let you know the date of the glass arrival. We have been waiting since 9/20. They just told me it wont be here for awhile. Where are you located? I am in Pittsburgh PA Area. Makes no sense you can get one in a week and I have been waiting for a month or two. @JeepCares I need help. I guess because I have an Overland with all the options my glass is unavailable with ZERO ETA. I am ready to park this at the dealer and make them give me a car. This is such BS.

I'm also in Pittsburgh and waited a couple months for a replacement windshield for my Overland. Now that I got the new one I just pray every time I go down the parkway north another stone won't fly up and hit me. I do not want to have to start the process all over again!

I took a rock to mine yesterday, chipped with the start of a crack (only ~ 1cm). I immediately stopped at the nearest Walmart and bought the Rain-X resin repair kit, having read this topic previously). The kit worked great.

Question, though: what is the cost of this windshield, if you need one?

I replaced my GCL's front windshield through Safelite. Wait time was about 3 months though. They got me the original OEM glass and the total without the deduction was about $1200 include labor and calibration. Seems like Safelite can get the glass cheaper for about $772 (wholesale price maybe?).

Update! Safelite called me on Friday and said they will have the glass this week. My appointment is 10/31 am. So a total of 41 days. I guess that is quick in today's environment. Hopefully everything goes smooth.

I'd be curious to know the cost and your rough location, just so we have some more data points in one thread. Is it going to be the OEM glass? Dealer installed?

I was pleasantly surprised today. I made an appointment with Safelite a few days ago to replace my windshield today. They were able to obtain the new windshield and install it with no delay.

They did say Jeep parts have been hard to come by.

I am near Atlanta.

Update! Replaced this morning finally. Here is the breakdown of costs.

List cost Windshield was $1883.80 Actual cost to Allstate = 583.98 plus 132.00 labor
Recalibration - List cost 300.000 Actual cost to Allstate = 250.00
So total was 965.98
I am in the Pittsburgh PA area.

That's an insane markup on the windshield. Was it a Jeep parts department price, vs some kind of corporate Allstate price?

I have no idea! That is what was listed on the invoice I got from Safelite. I did not order anything myself or even go the dealer to get a price.

I'm in Phoenix - land of the stone chips.
The glass came in on 10/26 as anticipated and installed a day later.

We waited 8 weeks for an OEM replacement. It was broken when it arrived at the dealership. Waited 6 weeks for the second which was installed 2 weeks ago. Interesting that you mention bubbles in the OEM replacement. I washed the vehicle yesterday and noticed 2 tiny bubbles over on the passenger side, so not in my direct line of sight. I guess I need to bring it to the dealership’s attention for a 3rd try…not looking forward to that!
