UConnect/Apple CarPlay issues

My dealer said they have to pull the center dash/console area. Which is why they're waiting until then to address my lack of air to the rear vent center ducts (2nd row) and the crazy heat in my console.
Wouldn’t it be something if your incorrectly installed console somehow damaged the wiring and is causing your problems? Like a missing ground situation.

Good to know. My whole screen is shot, though. The screen constantly flashes and resets so quickly that you can't even get into the menus to do anything with Uconnect. Sometimes I get in and I can listen to wired Carplay, but there's never XM or Nav, sometimes no FM, sometimes no volume control if you do have FM (and nothing is connected to CarPlay wired or wireless), sometimes it turns down the volume over and over on its own... It's just totally FUBAR.

At this point I feel like if someone could study it and understand it, they might come up with a cure for covid in the process.

I don't even get a flash. The screen just remains blank, but luckily in my case I haven't had any issues with the rest of the UConnect system.

I just received a phone call that the screen arrived and they are going to replace it today. I'll let you know if that fixes my issue.

Mine would go dark in the beginning (day two of ownership), but if I rocked the headlight switch on and off the display would come back. It was essentially just losing the 'backlight' and going to maximum dim (I could just very barely make out that the screen was still on). Then the flashing started, XM showed no radio ID and didn't work, Nav quit working, and a couple dozen other things went wrong. We shall see what they find, it's in the shop this week.

So they are saying a fix for the uconnet problem will be first quarter 2022. In the meantime, they say press and hold the volume button for 20 seconds and it will clear things out like a reboot etc...

Infotainment issues suck - especially phone connectivity - but its hardly a reason to hate a vehicle or lemon it.

EVERY SINGLE vehicle that has ever had carplay that we've had which is almost half a dozen in the last few years has had carplay issues and bugs. From Subaru to Chevy to a brand new Volkswagen iD4.

I’m having frustrating issues with Apple CarPlay. Both, my iPhone X and my wife’s iPhone 12, are no longer able to use CarPlay after 2 days of ownership. They were working fine when we left the dealership in our GCL Summit, but by the next day, Carplay disappeared from the apps menu, and UConnect gets stuck “connecting” to the phone. So far my only work around is to do a factory reset from the UConnect menu. However the problem comes back in less than a day. If I avoid a factory reset and just try to delete the connection (from both UConnect and our phones) and re-establish it, UConnect only sees our phones as music and calling capable. The CarPlay function completely disappears in UConnect. I’m not really sure what causes it, at first I thought it was because my wife used the usb cable instead of wireless CarPlay. But it happened again, without any cable use.
Anyone having any similar issues with Apple CarPlay in their GCL?

Any suggestions for a workaround that doesn’t involve losing all of our presets and profiles?

I contacted UConnect but they could only offer me a call back from a tech rep. I’ll be contacting my local service department tomorrow, but after googling around to find a solution, I’m not confident Stellantis has a fix, since CarPlay issues are affecting 2020 vehicles and other versions of UConnect.
This just started happening to my Jeep today.
2021 Grand Cherokee L. Just got her in October. Anyone end up with a solution? CarPlay is home tried the fixes mentioned other than the dealership.

Make sure you're running the latest iOS release, as they keep adding CarPlay bug fixes on Apple's end. I think it's at iOS 15.3 now. Some have reported that helping. I haven't seen my wireless CarPlay or most of the Uconnect system work at all after the first couple days of ownership (almost 2 months ago), so I can't comment (I have massive problems, no Nav, no XM, no BT, flashing screen, no memory etc etc etc, but my wired CarPlay occasionally allows me to play music controlled by the phone. It's otherwise been unusable in every regard).

I updated to iOS 15.3 last night and for two trips today CarPlay worked fine and didn’t cut out or restart itself

No issue with our GCL Overland but I’ll keep an eye on it. We did have a problem with initial setup. Had to restart our phones to get it to finally connect.
Uconnect agent says it is being wprked on and tough luck for a few months.
While at it. Anyone impressed with footswitch for back hatch. Crappola

My car has been in the shop for a new head unit and a new foot switch for the rear hatch, among a litany of other things. My hatch foot detector works about 50% of the time, which is super annoying when your arms are full and you're thinking it's going to work.

I think my car has a serious defect in the BUS system that's causing a lot of my problems, but maybe it's just the sensor, who knows. Dealer still scratching their heads.
