Summit Reserve 2nd row Center Console Removal

Anyone give it a try yet? If so, how difficult was it and what’s it look like removed? My 4yr old and newborn sit in otherwise executive 2nd row lol and other than my kid’s drink and necklace, that console is taking up a lot of valuable real estate for our weekend getaways (which usually include dogs/etc).

Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking about it too. Two young kids and all I would rather be able to walk through. figure I can always put it back later if I change my mind.

I would guess same as limited except for wiring for cup holder lights etc. Might even be able to buy the plastic cover and tuck the wiring underneath.

Soo I took a look at the 2nd row center console tonight and removed the front 2 screws (behind the plastic trim squares). The console lifted up pretty easily but there are metal brackets that stick up out of the carpet. I dont think its gunna be a good look so i didnt bother to remove the rear screws. Something to consider for those who are missing the console and want to add. Tried to snap a few photos but hard to see

Damn... I figured it was going to be something like this. If you change your mind or figure out a way to cover up the brackets... let me know. I'd LOVE to get a console in mine.

I don’t have a console and it’s much easier for the kids to get into the back back seat, they can open the door themselves but I don’t think they would be able to move the 2nd row seat forward . Everyone has a preference

This is about what I expected. I would bet money those L brackets just bolt to the floor and could be removed.

I would think you could unclip electrical connector, tuck into carpet, remove l bracket on both sides and then throw a mat to cover the slots in the carpet.

My kids are still infants but I will definitely be doing this at some point when they're older.

Following this for same reason. Really wanted the option to remove that center console in the SR. Little kids just put their feet on it and cant get to back row. Also it takes up sleeping space for our Golden Retriever haha.

I may take a closer look if i have time this weekend. Problem was accessing the rear 2 bolts since the seat sits so close to the plstic trim squares concealing the bolts, i gave up tryin to reach them.

Removed! May not be a permanent solution unless i can find smthin like a cup holder plate to take its place because the brackets are welded and non-removeable from what I can see.

with those bolt holes being there, it should be pretty easy to fab up and attach a cover of some sort. Wrap in a durable vinyl and be done. Won’t solve the room for the dog problem, but would easily solve the access issues.

Damn, that is a surprise.

I agree, some kind of tall & narrow cover for each side with a bit of padding seems like the way to go.

Thanks for looking

I would fashion a custom hump... Get some 2x4's and make a little hump that would bolt to those brackets. Then get a floor mat, or otherwise match up the carpet material, and glue it the hump you just made. That would be strong enough so you could walk on it and look pretty decent. then, when you are done, I'll buy the center console from you :)

The Durngo has cup holders between the captains chairs in the second row, might not be an exact fit but might be able to make it work???1636118432437.png
