Should I buy 2021 GCL available with dealer or order and wait for 2022 model?

Hi all, new member here. First of all thank you for this great forum and I have definitely learned a lot by reading different posts here. I am currently on the verge of placing an order for a 4x4 Limited. The only question I have is whether I should order a 2022 model which has couple of months wait time or get a readily available 2021 that meet my requirements. I have seen several people posting issues with 2021 models here and that makes me a bit concerned. Wondering if there is any concrete reasons to believe that 2022 model will be better other than just hoping Jeep to learn from mistakes and fix issues. Waiting a few months is okay for me as my current lease is available till next July. Really interested to hear what you all think.

I say go for it and get 2021. The 2022 you are waiting on is already made. So any problems that 2021 will be on 2022 as well. Only solution would be to wait the second part of 2022.

2022 models are not "already made". If the OP orders a 2022, they get to build it with the options available for whichever trim, and the build isn't started until after the dealer submits it. The 2022 is getting the passenger screen above the glovebox like in the Wagoneer. I vote order exactly what you want, and not settle for dealer stock if you can wait for your order to be built.

Just to be clear, these options can be added only by a dealer at this point? I don’t see these options when I try to build a 2022 myself from the Jeep website.

The website always lags behind. The dealer system is always updated before the public website.

Based upon my own experience with my 21, I would buy neither. I don’t know of a single vehicle without issues of some kind, most require new software or parts that don’t exist or sold out. The salesperson at my dealership already sold their personal GCL and mine will go away due to lemon law/lawsuit. Go find the wagoneer forum to see their similar complaints as our GCL’s. I would not expect the 22’s to be any different, and now with added tech on top of tech that doesn’t work and requires reset/rebooted.

Rear entertainment cannot be added at this time. Makes no sense that Jeep would promote this feature with a press release yesterday if we cannot add it to a build.

We have been extremely happy with our off the lot purchase over 2 months ago , the only glitch was with the folding mirrors not returning to position one time , I manually forced them back , worked every time since , ! We love our Overland , traded in a 17 Summit that we loved , the new Overland L sure rides and drives better , Our only complaint is the Ebony black sure shoes dust and finger prints ! I’m sure later scratching is in the future !
