Seat Comfort

How is the seat comfort on the Summit/Summit Reserve trims? I test drove the overland and found the drivers seat to be really firm. Does the Palermo leather translate to a softer cushion as well? For those that have taken delivery, how do you find the seat comfort in your new GC?

We noticed a big difference between the limited and the summit reserve but did not notice a big difference between the overland and the summit reserve.

We bought an overland because we didn't like the wood trim. No issues with seat comfort, we are normal/slender sized people.

My Overland is firmer than most european car seats, but after two months in it I don't mind it too much. It is on the firm side though. My first two days of ownership were a 1500 mile drive home, and with the heated/cooled massage seats and lane assist, it was a pretty fatigue-free drive. Thankfully the stereo/nav was mostly working at that point.

I have a 22 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve. The seats are very comfortable and I like the leg extender and massage functions. My only complaint is that the front of the seat does not go up high enough with the rear part of the seat also remaining relatively high. Only seating feature I miss from my last car. The Summit Reserve leather is a very nice upgrade over the Limited trim I sat in recently.

The Summit Reserve seats are very comfortable. The very large number of seat adjustments you can make gives you the ability fit any driving/seating style you like. The leather seating in the Summit Reserve doesn't make it softer, just more comfortable in cold or hot weather. I have a new Tahoe at work that I use often. It's seating is just as firm at the Jeep, but without all the seat adjustment features. Being- at it's heart- a Jeep, I have enjoyed the fact that the vehicle has been built for highway or off the paved road environment. I took the vehicle on a 3 day fishing trip in December, towing a bay boat to the coast and launching and retrieving from a boat ramp. The drive and the towing the boat and the storage of gear, and the drive were all excellent.

They're not as good as Volvo seats, and the forward part of the cushion doesn't go high enough for me at 6'3", but I'm hoping I can install some spacers to lift the front a bit. Otherwise, they're no barcoloungers, but with the massage, heating and cooling... they're not terrible to live with by any means. The Overland leather is nice and pliable/softish, too.

There is an option to adjust the bottom seat cushion to make it longer- extend to reach where you knee bends offering you more support.
This is also on my overland with luxury tech group IV which adds in the same 12-way adjustable seats. I am not sure if the other seats have this item as I haven't sat in them. I am a big fan of the "hug" adjustment where the seat narrows and grips around your torso.

I don't disagree the seats are on there firmer side but that's preferred by me as someone with lower back issues. I'd rather sleep on plywood than a tempurpedic. I use the massage 75% of my drives. And had no back issues after a 1100 mile drive in 20 hours.

My mother has a Mercedes GLS which surprisingly is like a twin car from edge to edge, feature to feature but 2x the cost. Her seats are absolutely softer and more comfortable for the short haul, but not the long haul. Racing seats aren't plush either.

Although I only sat in a SR for 10 minutes, I don't believe the seats were any different with comfort.

“Length adjustable front-row cushions” are standard on Summit and included with the Lux Tech Group option on Overland only.
