Rear Brake Noise

This evening when driving our Jeep Grand Cherokee L Altitude, we heard a horrendous metal on metal noise coming from the rear brakes. This happened at slow speed, less than 5 miles per hour going in drive or reverse. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Plan to call the dealer in the morning.

Rock between the dust shield and rotor.

Is this an easy fix I can do at home or is there some disassembly required of the braking components?
Easy fix but it concerns me that you are asking. lol

The debris rubbing should be an obvious sound and all you have to do is look at the gap where your dust shield is. Take tire off and look should see something in there and if it's there just get it out with a screw driver. Inspect your rotor for damage and replace if it's looks gouged.
