Rattling Noise in Dash or Gearbox - GCL 2021

Hi guys,

1st time Jeep owner here - but so far I am not impressed.

So we just bought our GCL last week, and we love the features and look of the car! Besides the Apple Carplay issue (which they said should be fixed in the next update?)... we are noticing an unusual rattling sound near the dash when driving over 50+ mph.

At first I thought it was coming form the console box, like pens or items were rattling... but I took EVERYTHING out of the car and I still hear it. It's not in the glove box, it's not the sunglasses box... it sounds sort of plastic... not metal. And only at higher speeds.
I drove on the Freeway with the Tech and he said he could hear it too... he kind of sighed and said these are really tough issues and can be so many things... they really can't know until we get it in and look at it and test it for a few days... yikes!

It's driving my wife NUTS! And we are kind of regretting buying the Jeep even though we love everything else about it. It just sucks to pay $50k and have to bring your jeep in multiple times in the first week.
We haven't even gone through our first tank of gas... :(

I read somewhere that they test run each one of these on Jeep's track to identify rattles, rings, etc - this makes that cool marketing piece look really stupid!

Does anyone else have this higher speed rattle sound?

Yeah I have the same issue. It seems to be coming from rearview mirror area. I have an appt with dealer so see what they find. I have an 21 Overland.

I’m sorry! It’s so annoying!
Please update if they make any progress with yours. Our dealer wanted to wait until the new year to start into it.

I have uploaded the sound. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas what it could be.
Thanks!

I don’t know about that one specifically, but my GCL Limited rattles EVERYWHERE. Both rear door panels, dashboard left of steering wheel, ceiling panel, rear passenger headrest. I also have a droning noise that has just started around 35-55mph

Have you checked out your tire pressures? When we received our 2021 GCL SR V8 I found the tires were all set to 46 or 47 PSI which are 7 and 8 PSI OVER the max recommended cold pressure for the 21 inch wheel/tire combo.

The excess pressure can lead to vibrations over rough surfaces that sounds like buzzing near the dash. I lowered ours to 39 PSI all around (cold) and no more buzzing.

Don't know if this will work for your situation, but its worth a try if you have not already looked at this potential fix.

For your consideration.

I keep my psi around 36-38. There are loose interior panels everywhere.

My Limited only has about 750 miles and I hear the rattling sound on the driver's side somewhere between the driver's seat and passenger captain chair. Forced to turn volume up on stereo to minimize the annoyance on highway drives. Beginning to regret trading in my Acura for the Jeep.
