Question about adaptive cruise control

Just picked up my 2023 2 row GC Summit and have a question about adaptive cruise control (acc)

Is there any way to turn off acc such that a normal, old fashioned fixed cruise control is available?

Just returned from first short highway trip in light rain, and acc would not function as a message indicated the front sensors were dirty. I expect they are always going to be somewhat obscured in rain or snow meaning this expensive vehicle effectively has no cruise control at all if the weather is at all inclement. That is a ridiculous situation in my view!

hrm, it is never a good idea to run cruise control (in any mode) in any condition other than dry roads. It should be able to disable them, but not sure. RTFM? we've only had our GC L for two weeks so still getting in to the nitty gritty. We just replaced a POS nissan armada ( almost 3 painful years ) that had ACC, and never could figure out that POS system.

I do not think there is a way to run the cruise control without the adaptive piece. You can try looking through the setting in the uconnect system but I don't remember their being one for this.

We went through last winter in the PNW and didn't have any issues using it and we defiantly drove through a couple snow storms that shut down half the state.

Fixed Speed Cruise Control is used without ACC enabled. To change between Adaptive Cruise Control & Fixed Speed Cruise Control features, first turn off ACC by pushing the ACC on/off button. Then, turn on Fixed Speed Cruise Control by pushing the Fixed Speed Cruise Control on/off button.

Jake22, In my Summit there is no fcc button, only the acc button. I also have not been able to find a setting to disable acc. Any further suggestions anyone?

Driving in Canada for many years there are lots of situations where it is safe and prudent to use a fcc even though the front of the vehicle might be somewhat dirty ( and sensors onscured.

This is a major flaw if there is no workaround

When I had my 2019 with ACC there were two buttons, one was the regular cruise control and one was the adaptive. In my '22 with Active Driving Assist (ADA), the regular cruise control button was replaced with the ADA button. I've seen "distance" shots of the steering wheel without ADA and they still have 2 buttons, so I would assume / guess that if you don't have ADA than you would have a button to turn on regular cruise control, but as I said this is a guess. So, the question for you, is do you have ADA, if you do, than you definitely don't have the regular cruise button.

All that being said, in my '19 I never once used the regular cruise control once I discovered the ACC, and I always wondered why they had the old button still. Now I use ADA 80% of the time and ACC 20% of the time (if the roads are really crappy or curvy), and few times that ADA has been unavailable due to *heavy* rains, I have not wanted to use the ACC, so I never tried. The '19 had a giant camera in the middle of the front below the bumper which was replaced with some kind of sensor plate on the '22, so maybe that is more susceptible to heavy rain, even for the ACC, but I haven't notice acc ever cutting out.
