Quadra-trac i without select terrain.

I was under the impression that the select terrain was standard with the Quadra-trac i system. Anyone else have a 4x4 that does not have this feature? Says it comes available with it on the Jeep site but I can’t seem to find a package that has it included? Reason why I’m asking is because I’ve seen limiteds with it but my altitude doesn’t have it. I know the Quadra-trac ii system gets the “rock” terrain mode with it. Just a bit confused

You said it yourself …available , but not standard. I have an altitude and was looking for the 4wd switch, after reading my owners manual……come to find out Quad 1 is automatic and does it as needed.

Super confused why you cannot select it as part of a build on the Jeep website. I’ve seen limiteds with Quad 1 with the switch so I’m just confused.

But it’s says on the Jeep website “ available with select terrain”
I know it does...i think they have a typo or they simply aren't offering it on the Quad 1 at this time...kind of like electronic limited slip diff?

Quadratrac 1 - only available option on Laredo and Altitude if you want 4x4 - is full time four wheel drive without low range, meaning great for on-road 4x4 needs and the easiest of off road excursions - jeep computer will take care of making sure you have traction where you need it - no buttons to fiddle with - 99.9% of GCL owners only need this

Quadratrac 2 - is Limited model and above - gets you the same as 1 plus low range for more serious off-road, climbing, rock crawling etc -

BUT you can't get the off road package with skids, tow hooks, etc right now anyway so low range is pretty useless without protection and recovery...

This is now my 3rd Grand Cherokee - none even offered it before - you don't need a button it will handle anything you throw at it - the real limiting factor is the tires

Nicely explained. I for one think these vehicles are too pretty to take off road. Build a wrangler if you want to go off road. Yes the capability is nice but go ahead and take your $60k Summit down the same trails as a rubicon and see how it goes

Thanks - and agreed - it is why I have a restored CJ-7 and an GC Altitude...together still less than a Summit Reserve...almost ;)

However when skids are available I am likely going to add them and some better tires...I do drive on some crazy roads to get to Mt. Bike races, camping, and the family farm. Just piece of mind...

I hate the factory tires. I gave up some nice Michelin performance rain tires for these crap ones

It is more they are low profile...and the piano black wheels are going to get stupid curb rash from my wife every time she parks in front of our house!

Did you go bigger? I'd like to fill the wheel well and have some tread...some BFG AT's would look great on it!

I have to disagree with Low being useless. I am a beachgoer, 4Lo is my preference to easily cruise over the sugary sand of Long Island; for that driving, skid plates and LSD aren't essential.

I get that - I live in Illinois - not drivable beaches!

When does the standard locker come into play? Limited trim with quad 2?

Standard locker is Quadra Trac 2 which gives the selecterain, 4wd low, and neutral transfer case for towing. I think that starts at limited.

Quadra drive 2 adds rear electronic limited slip differential. That's the inky difference from Quadra Trac 2. Supposed to be standard on summit but currently not being built due to part shortage. Included in off road group for overland but again can't be ordered.

So why are they still building them if they can’t even give you what is supposed to be in it.

Jeep just want to sell vehicles. They do not care if people actually use the vehicles to there fullest capabilities. I had a Summit on order and canceled. I was going to get a Grand Wagoner when they came available. But not now. Jeep has lost a very good costumer in myself and a lot of you on this forum. They have lost our trust. I was willing to wait. But no answers from Stellantis or the dealership. Just double talk.

If they were just honest. That would go a long way. But they have decided to be deceitful and are willing to loose customers for life. So sad to end a chapter in Jeeps life for a few bucks. Maybe an American company should have bought the company.

Ok … so now I am super confused. I am about to build an Overland or Summit .. we tow a small trailer (3000 lbs)in the mountains and backroads of Montana. We also do lots of day trips in the back country. For peace of mind I was going to add the Off Road package .. but I can’t? The question I was actually going to seek clarification on was the tire size as the off road is smaller. But is smaller better for interstate driving for comfort and road noise? But if I can’t order it really doesn’t matter.
