Power steering

Start it up. Service power steering message and lane assist message comes up. Short drive home with no power steering, park. 20 min later try again and all is good. It’s at the dealer now. I hope there is a stored message or something that can be duplicated. I would hate to have that go out at 70 mph in a turn with my 95 pound wife or kid at the wheel.

Now at the dealer for 1 week without the possibility of being looked at until tomorrow. It’s nice that Jeep Cares responds on these posts. It be nicer if they actually responded to the “start a conversation function “.

Hey, I had the same exact issue and my L has been in the shop for 3 weeks. I just got a call today that it's ready to be picked up however they were not able to replicate the issue after clearing the codes, so they just cleaned the connectors and are giving it back. I don't really feel comfortable taking the truck back giving there's a serious unsolved error with the steering system and I have my wife and 2 year old daily driving it. I don't think I have recourse here outside of hoping it ends up back in the shop so I can Lemon Law it, hopefully nothing bad happens before then.

Good luck.

Hi again. Sadly I am not seeing any private messages from you. I may have missed it, so if you'd still like assistance, we ask that you send it again.

I’m was notified today that the stored codes come back as the rack and pinion need to be replaced. 3 to 5 days for parts shipping.

I’m having the same issue. Now at the dealer for the fourth time. Dealer says no fix beyond what they’ve already tried is being offered by FCA. I’m filing a lemon law claim. I’m in NY. Started having the issue in November around 4k miles. Now I’m paying $550 a month to drive a renegade. This is my 9th Jeep and unless FCA makes it right by replacing this piece of junk- it will be my last. All of my neighbors are having a good laugh that I paid nearly $55k for a “luxury SUV” that sits at the dealer more than its on the road. 3x this month already. I contacted Jeep Cares on Thursday to open a case with them and I’ve yet to hear anything from them.

I would try another dealer. Additionally Jeep cares offered a rental as no loaner was available from the dealership. I declined because I can’t bring a loaner to work due to security issues. I was reimbursed for Uber expenses and compensated for my time without the car.

Just experienced the same issue: service power steering, auto emergency braking unavailable service required, service electronic steering control, active lane management unavailable service required, and active lane management limited blind spot alert unavailable error codes suddenly appeared. Restarted the car about 15 minutes later, and only the check engine light was on.

I'll take it to the dealer, but I hesitate to drive it. It was much more difficult to steer without power steering.

Read my thread just a bit further down the list. My entire Rack N Pinion unit was replaced for the exact same causes that you posted. They have to get 2 special tools to hold up the Engine/Transmission while they pull the rack N Pinion steering out of the car. Mine was in the shop for 15 days on that episode. I have filed the back page of the Lemon Law book as required to FCA at Auburn Hills Michigan due to repeat failures and 29 days out of service since 5/26/22, when it put me on the side of the road. I refuse to just give them the car, so they are going to be plenty tired of the repairs. After being forced to retire, I have more time to bother them, than I have money to throw away on another!
