Hi
I don't yet own a Grand Cherokee but plan to buy one to replace my daily driver. I have a boat that weighs 3,950 lbs dry I may occasionally tow with the vehicle, as well as my TJ (3,800 lbs). I'm undecided on V6 vs. V8 and would appreciate any first hand feedback on the towing capabilities. Is the V6 sufficient or will it be underpowered? This will be my daily driver, with a 70 mile/day commute, so the better mileage of the V6 would be nice, but I don't want it to be a dud on the occasion it pulls the boat or TJ. Any feedback would be greatly apprecaited!

Are you looking at the Grand Cherokee L or the standard Grand Cherokee? The new Grand Cherokee L with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine is rated for a towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds. The 5.7-liter V-8 has a class-leading towing capacity of up to 7,200 pounds.

Looking at the standard Grand Cherokee, which is rated at 6,200 lbs towing capacity with the V6 and 7,200 with the V8. Most likely either the Limited or Trailhawk editions.
