Back in December 2022 our vehicle stopped all the sudden in the middle of the road and it would not start back on, no matter what. A huge line of cars formed behind me because this happened on a very busy street and there was an accident, I was not hit but i feel in part the crash happened due to my vehicle stopping all the sudden like this. We towed the vehicle home and then the next day we towed it to the dealership, the said they did an ECU update and checked everything and that we were good to go. I created a case with Jeep Customer care and they were in contact with the dealership, since the dealership confirmed we were ready to go we did not follow up on that case.
This exact thing happened again in January 2023, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and it would not turn back on, lots of crazy lights flashing on the dash and it constantly said service vehicle transmission. While my wife was contacting the tow truck company I was able to turn the vehicle on again and drove it back home. I contacted Jeep and they said that they would call the dealership to coordinate an appointment, dealership was telling me that they had a 15 day wait time. We did not hear back from Jeep again.
Then it happened again, this time we towed the vehicle to the dealership directly and I opened a case with Jeep. We wanted to start a lemon law case so we needed to get the lease contract agreement and some other paperwork from the dealership, they mentioned they would be able to get us on a new car for the same amount that we were paying on our 2021, after some back and forth my wife decided that it was best for us to go that road and not go through the hassle of trying to lemon out the car. I followed up with Jeep, sent them all the documentation I had and the case specialist just called me this morning to let me that the dealership stated that the car stopped in the middle of the road 3 times in less than 6 months because it didn't have any gas in it. I could not get this response in writing because the 'case specialist' thinks that a phone call is good enough. We are happy with the new vehicle, and are not looking to recoup any tow money(close to $1000 at this point) but we do not want anyone else to purchase that car as a 'certified( if even) pre-owned car' when there are clearly issues with it.
Videos of the last incident.
Other random stuff that we were living with since we leased the car back in 2021:
- Rattling noises from the back doors, both of them, driver side was the handle and passenger side coming from inside the door panel.
- Sun Roof switch panel plastic falling and making rattling noises while on highway speeds sounds.
- Issues with the infotainment system randomly disconnecting, screen unresponsive.
- False beeping and alarms to put hands on steering wheel when lane assist was on.
