Jeep Grand Cherokee L order status updates….

that’s crazy, I ordered early may (received VIN) and still in D. Congrats (I’m jealous)!
Here is what my dealer told me yesterday: "They are planning to start build of the 5.7 V8s the week of 9/13, subject to change of course". I told my dealer that there are people already driving their v'8's. So Jeep is not "starting" to build, they have been building them! Will wait and see!!

My wife talked w/ Jeep chat last week. Yesterday I got the usual form garbage email from “Jeff” (the god of biscuits). We were briefly in D1 late last week but went right back to D on the weekend. Ordered late May/beginning of June. I think the dealer submitted the order on 2 June if I recall the sheet my wife and I have since misplaced.

But, are they driving around on production vehicles or demo/review vehicles? I was told the same thing; V8 production was not going to start until August.

so at least I’m getting a similar story from my dealer who just reached out to his factory rep and got the same answer about mid september…said the reason its taking so long is the production rate for summits are very low as they wont make/offer many of them to the public vs the other trims. he said he assumed it could be because there is a lot more chips in a summit then a limited. With dealer orders being accepted for ‘22 models on 3 Sep, and deposits being refundable, I’ve got a good mind to put in a ‘22 SR Hemi order and see which one hits first. 🤔

If you know of a way to find a SR Hemi on a lot somewhere, pass it along plz. I’ve been hunting and pecking around google or on the new build site (pretty much manually) without any luck.

Go to the Jeep website, build one to your spec and expand the search area to 250 plus miles. I found several V8 Summit Reserves around Cleveland, Connecticut, Colorado. Texas and Florida are limited (likely less 4wd need). However, most of them have bench seats or running boards, neither of which I wanted.

I am beyond annoyed with Jeep right now. Lots of people asking very easy questions and getting the runaround @JeepCares

I'll be asking for a notable discount on my vehicle for the following reasons:

1. Loyalty (5 Jeeps in a row)
2. Being patient with this BS.
3. Getting a model that is immediately "last years"

If not, then I'm Audi, and by Audi I mean OUTIE - there are lots of Q7's I can get for around the same cost. Very nice interior, exceptional build quality.

Just found out that our BG SR w/Hemi is being painted, I actually saw the screen at the dealer with that info but I contacted Jeep chat and it still shows parts are being gathered.

also, on the plus side, we know the 1st job date for the ‘22’s is 1 NOV at the Mack plant, so that means the ‘21 production run should be completed by then so the plant can shift gears (heavy sarcasm) 😂

Just found out the WL74 order dates got pushed to September…sucks for them, but should help get ‘21 orders off the line.

Just ran KBB on a 2020 summit vs a 2019 summit, same everything at 10k miles. Trade in Value was $3,676 less for the 2019. So thats a good guess as to the impact on value by taking the end of year from them so late.

My dealer told me that prices are expected to increase across the board for 2022s and hence the depreciation could be negligible. Either way if mine isn't shipping by Sep 3 I'll see if there are major changes coming with 2022s and order a 22 model. I'm not in a hurry to get one.

I'd rather get a model that has sorted the quirks and have the eLSD

That matters if you plan on flipping the car. Do the same comparison in 5 years, and it will be less significant

I ordered my JGC L Reserve V8 on July 8th, I checked with Jeep chat today and got this message "I am showing all of the materials needed to start the build process have been received. The vehicle should be entering the build process very soon. Please reach out to the Selling Dealer as they may have a more accurate date of arrival or status for you." I asked about the eLSD and she said she did not have that info available. Kind of makes me want to cancel and order a 2022 once the eLSD are available again. That said I am using a borrowed car so kind of need a vehicle sooner than later.

I factory ordered my 2015 Wrangler and figured it was like a rotisserie machine: set it and forget it. A watched pot doesn’t boil. No amount of griping will make it arrive any sooner - if it did, everyone on this thread would have 2 GCLs in their driveways lmao folks have to understand that a factory order doesn’t trump making 500 standard dealer models that will sell as fast as that order.

The QT2 is all you need. You do not need the eLSD. I've done rocky river beds, beaches, mud bogs, mountain roads, highways in the rain, rock crawling. Never once needed the eLSD. Never got stuck. I do not get why so many people are up in arms about the eLSD. If you are getting the V8, you are already getting beefier diff.
