Jeep Grand Cherokee L order status updates….

VIN# generated basically means your vehicle has an identify now. It exists in the ether of vehicles in United States (although its not physically build yet and does not actually exist).

You can use the VIN# to track the built and production by talking to Jeep Chat on the website. Once the vehicle is scheduled to be build (D1 status), you can go on the following website but plug your vin at the end of the link and get the full build specs. Later once the car is released from final quality, you can use the vin# again to get the window sticker. I have the link for the window sticker below also.

Build Sheet: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=1C4RJKEG7M81XXXXX
Window Sticker: https://www.jeep.com/hostd/windowsticker/getWindowStickerPdf.do?vin=1C4RJKEG7M81XXXXX
(replace the 5 X's at the end with your actual VIN last 5 digits)

Basically, if your Build Sheet shows up, your car has actually started manufacturing. If your window sticker shows up, your car has most likely cleared final inspection and is ready to be shipped out.

Hope this helps!
You should actually replace the entire VIN except maybe for the first two or three digits. The 7th position is the trim (Limited, Overland, Summit, etc.) and will vary, the 8th position is the engine and will vary and the 9th position (in the example shown it is a 7) is a checksum and will change based on the rest of the VIN, for example my 9th digit is an X.

Thanks for the great information on this forum! I ordered a new GCL Overland V8 about 2 weeks ago. All I got from the dealer was the spec sheet they had me approve before they ordered. They told me they had confirmation that the order had been submitted. After reading some of these posts, I went to the Jeep chat. They said I could get updates if I had the VON. I have asked my dealer several times for the VON or for some kind of confirmation of the order, but each time I get a different excuse like the person who can pull that up is not there, or they'll get back to me, etc. Is there another way to get a VON besides from the dealer? Or is that only available when the VIN is generated? Thanks.

Jeep only accepts direct orders through authorized dealers. if the dealer placed the order, they have the VON. Did you give a deposit?

The VON is the Vehicle Order Number - it is generated immediately when the dealer places the order
The VIN as you likely know, Vehicle Identification Number - it is generated by the factory when they put the order into D status

I found this as my guide to knowing what all these statuses people are talking about mean: https://www.jeepfan.com/tech/chrysler-jeep-vehicle-order-codes/

Was just contacted by my dealer and mine went into D1 this morning with ”estimated” ship date of 18 Aug. Not celebrating yet, but just nice to finally see a different status.
Good luck! I ordered mine May 3 and one week ago it went to D1 status going to be built this week. Now today it went back to D status meaning gathering parts. This whole mess has about got me down!

My estimated ship date for my hemi was Aug 12, but chatting with Jeep right now to see if what they tell me matches what my dealer just told me

I ordered in Silver w/ Reserve / Hemi end of May and checked all the boxes. Here’s to hoping we’re both on track to finally get our orders.

Anyone have experience with late model orders? I wonder what will happen to ‘21 orders that haven’t been scheduled (parts allocated)…e.g. will they still be built as ‘21 models or will they be automatically converted to ‘22 orders after 3 September?B22F3412-EC51-4895-A71D-08CC270E948E.jpeg
