Jeep connect Update

I know that we have all been talking about this before but I can't seem to find the thread. A lot of us are concerned that we are going to lose Nav and other features when our free Jeep Connect subscription has expired. I just received an email from Jeep that my subscription has been extended till 6/17/22. I did not do anything and there still are no pricing for these plans on the website. I think that Jeep is going to continuing to extend these b/c they are getting a lot of complaints about having to pay subscriptions for everything.

I just noticed that too. I also saw that a subscription renewal is due for me in 2025 for active driving assist!!! Seriously?!?!?!? A safety feature you have to have a paid subscription for???

I just checked mine and it says "Hands Free Active Driving Assist" which is the SOS calls and automatic SOS calls. Much like Onstar for GM not the ADAS this is all of your safety items (blind spot, lane assist ect...). I had a Cadillac and you have to pay for Onstar which is the same thing. Although you have to pay for it after 1 year not 3.

This is incorrect. Hands Free Active Driving Assist is not SOS calls. It’s the Level 2 Autonomous Driving feature of the MY22’s. Crazy that it shows under the subscription services. Shouldn’t have to continue to pay for a feature that you purchase initially.

I think this remains a confusing and relevant topic. Do you think we can rename this thread Uconnect subscriptions with the purpose of accumulating the facts and details about what services do or don't require a subscription, and what the cost and durations are for any services that do. It will also be important to distinguish if a subscription is only needed for updates, or remote contacts, for example with navigation, to confirm that navigation isn't gone if and when a subscription lapses. It seems like these terms are still somewhat seat of the pants, and haven't even been formalized yet.

So does SOS and Assist require a paid full suite subscription? On my account the Safety and Security features says active til 2031 however, I'm getting a "SOS unavailable- Uconnect box error" on screen display. I called jeep connect customer service and I was told it's bc I do not currently have a subscription (my trial ended last month)

I just got back from a 2600 mile road trip and had the following issues:
1 - CarPlay would work sometimes and others not
2 - U-Connect GPS either acknowledged (or not) the address I would put in it
3 - U-Connect GPS took me to wrong addresses three times
4 - Volume control of the U-Connect guide was low and could not keep it adjusted to my preferred setting
5 - Volume of the phone ring on incoming calls is extremely loud and will not keep preferred level after turning off the engine (annoying after a rest stop)

Has anyone come across a fix for these issues?
Thanks in advance

I believe the volume of UConnect has to be adjusted while it is playing via the volume knob. Same with the phone.

I’m having chronic issues with CarPlay, both wireless and wired. I typically default to wireless and I have issues connecting sometimes - like 4-5 times per week. It’s getting really old. I tried to methodically troubleshoot a simple fix, like rebooting the phone or wiping the connection and starting over. The only thing I can do to get it to return to normal is to turn the vehicle off, open/close the door, then wait for the cluster to go completely off. Then I restart the vehicle and pray. I’d say that works about 75% of the time. The times that it doesn’t work, I’m usually performing these steps at a red light and May be forced to restart prematurely. I feel like an idiot for doing this at a light, but it’s extremely annoying not to have this basic function working. I use Google maps now, mainly for traffic alerts on my route. My trial has ended and I’m not interested in paying a subscription fee for something that should be free, especially given the amount I’m paying each month for this vehicle. By the way, the app is a joke too. It rarely gave me accurate information about my vehicle’s diagnostics - gas level, mileage, etc. So they expect me to pay $20-$30 PER month for bad intel and the ability to lock/unlock/start my car from the phone?!?

Not gonna do it - read that with you best Dana Carvey voice impersonating George Bush Sr. 🙂

To add salt into this wound, I called to schedule an oil change, fix a rattle, and fix a clicking when turning right. Called at the beginning of August and I cannot get in until August 30. When I asked about a software update for the CarPlay connection issue, he was unaware of one but told me all software updates are done OTA. Double ugh.

Can one invoke the lemon law for software issues that don’t get resolved? I’m that irritated by this. Thoughts?

You don’t reboot the phone, you reboot the radio. Hold the volume and tuning knobs down for about 10 seconds until it restarts.

As Boggswade describes, the radio reboot is the critical step. I'd be interested in knowing if that is needed more than rarely.

But then I'm wondering about your mention of a need for a subscription to use Google Maps which should be available over CarPlay/Android Car. Do you know specifically what your expiring subscription includes? The only features that should require a subscription, along with Sirius, FireTV and Off Road pages, as listed by Indigovic here: https://wljeepforum.com/index.php?t...e-without-a-paid-subscription.1931/post-19822
are Jeep Connect functions. That includes TomTom Navigation updates, but CarPlay or Android Car, should provide GoogleMaps.

So I’ve also had CarPlay issues. The build for the radio is FCA-MY21.R17.99-PROD. I am running iOS 16 beta and my wife’s phone is running 15.6.1. It is super frustrating that after about 15 minutes the CarPlay loses the connection. I was at the dealer yesterday for this very problem. After about 3 hours the service advisor came and told me there is nothing they can do. According to the service advisor Jeep only officially support up to 15.3 (released on Jan 26, replace by 15.4 on Mar 14). This is some straight up bull****. I don’t know what the rest of you paid for yours, but the fact that a $60k+ vehicle is around 6 months behind the most current iOS version, well I’m losing polite verbiage.

I’m going to be going on a 2500 mile road trip in the first week in October. I’m hoping there is an OTA update that brings this to support a little more current. In the mean time I’m going to be testing a wireless dongle I use for my Explorer (no wireless CarPlay support).

I am also hitting the dealer for information on the page that discloses only up to iOS 15.3 is supported. If any of you have info please share.

Just had my car in shop today for other things but the main issue was Apple Car play. They flat out told me that I had the latest software update and that Chrysler Engineers are working on a solution. Says it right on the invoice. Well if that is the case I will never get this fixed considering Chrysler is no longer in charge. Going to be a long time. But on a serious note. We have had this car since November. Nothing has been done about this. The vehicle sticker should say part time Apple Carplay. Because it works about 1/3 of the time. When you spend 62k for a car you expect it to work as designed. And I know I am not the only person with this issue. 1000's have the issue. Jeep Cares you need to get this fixed ASAP.....or maybe offer to buy my car back and not lose any money. I will certainly not recommend your products ever. But we do like our Jeep GCL. But the flaws keep us from loving it.

Not sure what makes you think this won't get fixed. It seems the updates to Unconnect have been pretty frequent, and there's no reason why they won't continue. They may now be called Stellantis instead of Chrysler, but that doesn't change who develops the products.

When you say updates are frequent, can you define frequent? I have had my GCL for over a year and have only received 1 single update. Are you on MY22? I’m on MY21 and seems like they have already abandoned updates.

I'm only basing that on the comments on this forum. I haven't been able to order the configuration I'd want to buy yet.

I've had my GCL since July 2021. I have only had one update. I've been promised a second update from Jeep Connect since November 21 - but no luck so far. Every time I call for an update they say it's in the works.

I'm disappointed to feel like I'm on the back burner.

Couldn’t agree more! We shall see, but if every update takes over a year I’m not going to be happy. I’d understand major updates to bring additional features once or so a year, but incremental fixes for bugs should be much more frequent. I also no confident that added software features will come to older models. I’ve already noticed that my MY21 doesn’t have the ability to add Alexa to the status bar, breadcrumbs in off-road app nor do we have the emergency vehicle notification feature. Hardware is there, where’s our update!

I just got a call from Jeep Connected Services stating there is a new TBM update available for my JGCL. Hopefully it will fix my app issues.
