I’m having chronic issues with CarPlay, both wireless and wired. I typically default to wireless and I have issues connecting sometimes - like 4-5 times per week. It’s getting really old. I tried to methodically troubleshoot a simple fix, like rebooting the phone or wiping the connection and starting over. The only thing I can do to get it to return to normal is to turn the vehicle off, open/close the door, then wait for the cluster to go completely off. Then I restart the vehicle and pray. I’d say that works about 75% of the time. The times that it doesn’t work, I’m usually performing these steps at a red light and May be forced to restart prematurely. I feel like an idiot for doing this at a light, but it’s extremely annoying not to have this basic function working. I use Google maps now, mainly for traffic alerts on my route. My trial has ended and I’m not interested in paying a subscription fee for something that should be free, especially given the amount I’m paying each month for this vehicle. By the way, the app is a joke too. It rarely gave me accurate information about my vehicle’s diagnostics - gas level, mileage, etc. So they expect me to pay $20-$30 PER month for bad intel and the ability to lock/unlock/start my car from the phone?!?
Not gonna do it - read that with you best Dana Carvey voice impersonating George Bush Sr. 🙂
To add salt into this wound, I called to schedule an oil change, fix a rattle, and fix a clicking when turning right. Called at the beginning of August and I cannot get in until August 30. When I asked about a software update for the CarPlay connection issue, he was unaware of one but told me all software updates are done OTA. Double ugh.
Can one invoke the lemon law for software issues that don’t get resolved? I’m that irritated by this. Thoughts?
