Intermittent Power Steering Unavailable

So 6 pages and the only successful resolution to an owner with a problem was a buyback. Solution to an owner without the PS issue was a software update that wasn’t for their original complaint. Fun times we live in. Next we will be told to put Brawndo on the crops.

No. Mine was repaired and 3000 miles later still fine.

I honestly think many of you guys need to find better dealerships. I’m not excusing the issues with this car but I’ve had many of the common issues mentioned on this forum and they were all quickly addressed by my dealership. Power steering, service 4WD ,rear latch and battery drain. Things like the heat shields that rattle were replace during routine service without me asking. Jeep Cares kept me informed, offered me a rental car and reimbursed all my Uber expense in lieu of a rental along with financial compensation for time without the vehicle. These are the only reasons i would consider another Jeep.

I need to find another brand. Jeep cares has never responded, I have switched dealerships and no dice. The original dealership when asked about a buyback told me they only sell them, they didn’t make them, contact a lawyer. Jeep blamed me, the owner for the vehicles problems when spoken to about legal action and continues to this day to deny any issues or faults with the entire model lineup. To top it all off, you are the only person that I have seen on here actually had a problem fixed and didn’t spend months in the shop to do it. I’ve spent over 40 days at the dealership in the first 120 of ownership and have simply given up. Complaining, calling, emailing, talking to different dealerships, etc. is more useless than trying to communicate to Jeep cares on this forum. It is not my job as a consumer to chase the manufacturer down and corner them in a room with lawyers to get resolution, that is the last resort. In Jeeps case it has been my only resort. To date, I have never received any written or verbal response from Jeep with multiple calls, emails, complaints, to dealers and corporate, or this forum, with promises of call backs and follow ups. Absolutely zero. Yet Jeep has the audacity to cancel my Uconnect services trial 1 month early after it didn’t work for the first 3 months, after being told it would be extended, and their website showing that it is extended. These people at Jeep cannot stop screwing owners IMO or in my case.

You clearly live in a larger city, probably have a larger, newer, more professional dealership. Where I live l, the entire counties population is less than 50K, and a large city is over an hour away. I am assuming you live in a much larger area. It is clear that larger dealerships have their crap together, smaller ones in my case don’t.

3 pages worth. Everything from power steering failing, emergency braking events with no critters or other vehicles present, abs failures, Uconnect screen shutting off and rebooting, headlights flashing/strobing, no vehicle health diagnostics data in app, down to bumps squeaks rattles. Enough to stop buying all FCA vehicles at supplier discounts and to stop my business from ever working with them again. Enough to start a class action lawsuit thread back in October/November last year after 2 months of ownership, only to be called a liar by their legal team.

Talked to the dealer today. They are willing to purchase the car and I would pocket about $2400. However, I put down $5k and figure I am due back $4400 after 3 months. They said I can talk to corporate to see if they will refund any of my past monthly payments to make up the difference..... will update soon.
I’m going through a similar issue - 7900 miles and initially was chronic uconnect/CarPlay connectivity issues but earlier this week had the same power steering service come on along with electronic stability control and Kane assist service. Seems an entire failure. Had to have it towed to the dealership and waiting for them to diagnose it but from reading this thread I think I already know where this is headed (patch needed, no ETA, likely to re occur).
My question is how did this buy back discussion come about - did you press for this or did they offer? How many times did they service it multiple times first?
I purchased my jeep at a different dealer km servicing it at just due to inventory at the time so not sure if I’d need to take this up with the dealer I purchased from or any jeep dealer? Any help would be appreciated - never been through this before and I’ve had 4 grand cherokees and 2 wranglers in the past. So disappointed. Thanks

First I opened a case with corporate to get them to buy the car back. Per terms of the lease, you need to give them an opportunity to fix it. Meanwhile, I also called the dealer where I got the car and told them the story and said I don't want the car anymore because I have 2 kids and I don't have any peace of mind even if it did get fixed.

I have a case open with “jeep wave” for now. They said a new service bulletin was posted about a weeks ago related to the rack and pinion steering which might address it as it’s a recent update. I’m cautiously optimistic but obviously if not this you can’t help but wonder what the next issue will be.
Appreciate the detail how you went about it.

Keyword lease… a lease owner with minimal capital involved gets a buyback due to the leverage of a lease. I pay cash/own and get shafted as I have no leverage except lawyers.

The best option is that the newest software update fixed the Pr. Steering intermittent problem. We can’t lease because we put too many miles on and those leases are high.
