Grand Cherokee L Roof Rails

Have a new Grand Cherokee L Limited and noticed it has eye-holes on the side rails. Does anyone know if these are/can be used as tie-downs for a cargo bag?

I wouldn’t see why not. They look sturdy, but are just molded from the look of it?
I thought I read something about it in the actual manual (which is sooo far away from me now), but lazy me found the digital version which specifically mentions this:

They are molded which is my main concern. They are sturdy. Called several service and parts departments and no one had any idea. Mopar said to contact the dealership...
