GCL Summit MPG

I have a GCL Summit with the 3.6L V6 engines and my window sticker said 14-22mpg but in reality I get 12.5-13.3 average and I'm rarely idling or around city. Anyone else getting atrocious MPG?

4k miles on ours and we get 12-13 also. Just false advertising imo. Other manufactured put real numbers in their spec, jeep does not.

The MPG estimates on the EPA/DOT Fuel Economy and Environment Label (or window sticker) are based on standardized laboratory test procedures to ensure they are reliable, repeatable, and fair across different car models. That means consumers can compare mpg for different vehicles on an ‘apples-to-apples’ basis to determine which vehicle is more fuel efficient.

Testing vehicles in controlled laboratory conditions establishes a level playing field for all cars and ensures that the test results are consistent, accurate, repeatable, and equitable among different vehicle models and manufacturers. Vehicles are driven on a dynamometer (a device similar to a treadmill) using five standardized driving patterns or test cycles. These test cycles represent a variety of driving conditions including speed, acceleration, braking, air conditioning use, and ambient temperatures. The test results from the five driving cycles are combined to yield individual “city” and “highway” values, and a “combined” fuel economy value that assumes a 55% city/45% highway split.1

MY21 Summit V6…exact same averages. Bought in July 2021, almost 7K miles. MPG is horrible!

2021 GCL Summit, bought in Nov last year already put 8k miles. Even with AT tires I am actually getting 15/16MPG.

2022 GLC Limited, 3.6L with 1700 miles. Current average is 20.6 mpg with 60% highway and highway speeds averaging about 70 mph. To date, highway mileage has been short sections ranging from 5 to 30 miles, but I expect to take a several hundred mile trip soon which will give a more realistic highway number.

2021 Limited. 9000 miles, just got back from a 300 mile trip about 80% highway at 79mph. 23.6 MPH . At 64 MPH, mileage increases to 27.6 . Can't remember ever seeing it below 18mpg, and I am a type "A" . Something is wrong if you are getting 12-13. I bet it is the trip computer .

12-13 seems like a real problem worth taking it in to the dealer to look at. Mine is in the shop right now as it has an engine problem, but the problem in my case causes the engine to stall, so it's not clear if the fuel economy is related or not. It will be interesting to see if it improves after it's fixed though.

Edit:
I should add, the v6 Ram 1500 Classic I have on rental while my GCL SR is in for warranty repair is getting 20MPG for pretty much the same engine. However, the 1500 Classic has a 3.21 axle ratio, whereas my GCL SR has a 3.45 axle ratio -- so it probably gets better fuel economy on the highway - even though the window sticker I pulled for the truck says it gets 1MPG less.

If the window sticker has 14-22mpg then you have the 5.7 V8 and the EPA mpg stated is when using midgrade fuel.

For folks calculating MPG, are you using the Jeep's calculation? Or hand calculating? I'm curious.

The reason I ask is my dash readout is regularly 2.5-4.0 MPG lower than if I manually calculate. I've tried to eliminate most of the variables in filling (same pump, low flow setting, between 7-7:30am, etc.)

I have a feeling some of the Jeeps systems aren't accurately calibrated and therefore the readout is lower. YMMV
