First Oil Change

For the 2022 WLs, at purchase, did Jeep provide regular or synthetic oil? I would like to also know (i) at what mileage you had your first oil change, as well as (ii) whether the computer oil % is an accurate gauge to use to determine future oil change intervals. Thanks in advance.

Yeah the computer gauge is pretty accurate. It depends on driving characteristics but usually tells you to change your oil around 7k miles. With synthetic oils you can easily go 10k+ miles. Jeep uses cheap Pennzoil synthetic blend, don't use that if you don't have to. Get a full synthetic of whatever you like or is priced well.

I got my first oil change ~7150 miles when the computer oil % gauge was at 23%. No towing and a 60/40 mix of city/highway driving with the proper break-in procedure the manual calls for. I performed an oil analysis through Fluidlife pre-oil change (attached).

Results from the oil change was elevated iron and copper wear which is typical for a break-in oil change. The lab gave a green light to extend to 15k interval if desired based off the additive package degradation rate (estimated at ~65% useful life remaining). I'll still be changing the oil around 7k until the Fe and Cu values decrease in subsequent samples.

The dealership provided a full synthetic 0W-20 - Mopar branded oil.

Thanks all for the feedback. I'll plan for ~7K miles, or 25% on the oil gauge, and will request full synthetic.
