I loved my Jeep when everything was working. But I refuse to pay for a brand new vehicle that had so many problems....especially now that the factory warranty expired and I'd have to start paying for repairs out of my own pocket. I had problems from the beginning and I finally gave up and went back into a new Ram 1500.
My biggest issues:
1) Less than a year old and I needed to get the motor mounts replaced. Might be a fluke, but having them fail so soon is a red flag in my book. I have never had to replace a motor mount in any other vehicle I have owned. Might be common, but so far I have avoided this until now. I can't imagine this is an easy/inexpensive repair. When would this happen again???
2) A few months ago, I started hearing a loud clunking noise underneath. Turns out, I needed to get the drive shaft replaced. I'm not sure what exactly the issue was, but it was explained to me that it was coming apart. Wtf does that mean? How does that happen???
3) My biggest issue of all, was the piece of crap radio!!! This thing worked flawlessly for maybe a few months when I first got it. But then one day, my Carplay would disconnect all of the time, and I would get an error on the screen. My dealership tried to diagnose the problem but they couldn't, and told me I had to wait for an OTA update. Well, I waited and waited so I finally called Jeep direct and explained the issue to them. They had their engineers look into it for a few months and came back with the same response of having to wait for an update. The radio worked after I would hit "OK" to clear the error screen but it would come back every few minutes or so. This was very annoying and just became a nuisance. Also, the SOS button wouldn't work because of this issue. So, if I ever needed to use that, I wouldn't have been able to. These two issues were somehow tied together. The dealer did put in a new GPS antenna thinking that may fix the SOS issue but it didn't. Anyways, after about 1.5 years of dealing with this, I finally got the dealership to agree to just put in a new radio. I was ecstatic because it finally worked as it should without any errors.........for a few weeks. Then one day it started doing the same thing as before. Finally, I said Enough.....I'm done.
Just wanted to share my story with others in case anyone else is having these same issues. I'm sure there are many owners that have not experienced any of this and thoroughly enjoy their Jeep. I'm happy for them. I wish I was one of them.
