Disable out of vehicle with fob honk?

Horrible feature until you drive down the road a bit, and realize you dont have the fob. YIKES>

You would still get a notification on the cluster saying the FOB is not detected. I'm assuming the honking is so you don't accidently leave the car running in a garage filling it up with CO2...

Mine doesn't differentiate as to the FOB being in the car or not. It has to be a lawyer decision to avoid C02 indoors or something because X number of people die that way so now we have to all have this nonstop annoyance everywhere we go. "I really love that, though" said no one, ever.

What's next? Cars only available in high visibility vest colors with reflective stripes? I'm hoping my dealer can figure out how to disable it, otherwise I'm going to unplug my horn altogether. It's so obnoxious. Everyone hates it. I've never seen a car do this before, and at most they should have installed a polite sounding 'piezo' style 'chirp' horn like other makers use for the 'alarm on/off' sound (ie BMW etc). That would have been great for the 'tire fill' honk, too. At least that can be turned off (although I like the feature, but the first time you fill a front tire you nearly go deaf.

I wonder if some kind of current resistor could limit the amount of juice for the first half second or something to turn the volume down for the first part of the horn pulse?

That's good to hear. Mine honks at any opportunity - FOB still in car, FOB not in car, anytime I get out and shut the door with the engine still running. It's so bad I just want to disable the horn altogether.
Mine doesn't ;)
It would be great if you could post or PM us some specific directions to give dealers so we can fix it. There's no Jeep LEO vehicles anywhere in the US that I'm aware of, so no one seems to know how to access the code on that side.

I can't tell if Jake22 really has an answer for this or if is just goofing around, but it seems one way to satisfy both the legal and practical requirements would be to ask if they can add a menu entry to delay the warning when you know you're intentionally leaving the engine running while unoccupied for some set amount of time.

Kill3Honk – disable 3 honks when leaving running vehicle with fob
Assuming you're talking about the TazerDT product, apparently they also have an answer for the easily stolen car problem as they let you program a series of buttons to push on your steering wheel to act as a pin code before you can drive your car, kind of interesting, but didn't think they had it available for WL's yet...

Jake22 is a troll and doesn't really add value to the forum I wouldn't put any weight behind their comments.

IMG_8184.pngI reached out to the makers of the taser module. It doesn’t work on L’s. I’m hopeful it will one day. They show the taser being able to disable the honk on other models.

So I got my first oil change yesterday and gave them my list of issues. They told me that they couldn't do anything for the horn honking, but they did some other updates which fixed some issues, and now the triple horn honk only happens when the car is is in "Run" and you get out and close the door. It no longer honks when you remote start the car and open / close a door or the hatch, so that's a big improvement for me...
Wait, wait, wait.... Can you please tell me what they did? This is my biggest issue with the 3 beep issue. If I remote start my vehicle, it will turn off anyways automatically. I do not need it to beep when I load something in the back first, then close the door. Super annoying.

I assume they just loaded whatever updates they had. They told me that they couldn't do anything about the beeps, but then they stopped :) SOOO much better the way it is, not perfect, but way way better.

I good median would be to instead of using the horn use the beeping thing that activates when the trunk is opening and closing.

Good median would be the way the WK2's worked which was to just have a little bell inside the car. Ideally there would be no sounds at all because its stupid.
