Dealers to stay away from and those to use

No, I do not qualify for affiliate pricing. I was going to join tread lightly, as I have to in order to receive 5% below invoice on a build through the one dealership I'm talking to; however, I am interested in buying now. I did the TRUECAR thing and I'm waiting for a dealership to contact me. TRUECAR says $500 off with their rebate, plus another $500 for first responder. It's not showing anything additional. Plus, I'm hearing dealers aren't accepting affiliate rewards. Did you purchase yours? Do you mind sharing your pricing sheet?

I've been working with Westbury Jeep on Long Island, NY and they have been outstanding so far. Originally had a dealer order that I put a deposit on that had the Lux Tech II package. Since that got stuck in BG status and no planned build date. I ordered a Limited with out it and after seeing the Baltic Gray, my wife decided she did not like the color. I emailed the dealer and asked to cancel the order. Explained I would like to wait till more colors and the Lux II package was available. They understand and even refunded my deposit with out me asking for it back. They are keeping me uptown date on everything and will absolutely getting my GCL from them when we find one that we matches are likes
Just wanted to follow up on this. My wife saw a GCL in velvet red and loved the color. Found a limited with Lux II at the dealer we have been working with, Westbury Jeep and reached out to the salesman we had been working with. The great experience we had with them continued and picked up our Jeep last night.

Me and the wife looked at a Limited L at Route 130 CJD in Robbinsville, NJ It was the only one they had. They added an adjusted market value of $6,000 and another $1995 in add on B$. The salesman asked if I wanted it, I said only if you start at sticker and negotiate from there. He said No and we walked. Three days later, we went to Buhler CJD in Hazlet, NJ. The saleslady Joan was incredible. She asked if we belonged to any groups. My wife is a teacher and we got affiliate pricing with her NJEA membership...I think I will be buying all my cars from them from now on. I also did the Capital One financing and got an incredible rate though them...

My wife is a teacher also and member of NJEA. I specifically asked my dealer in NJ if teachers qualify for better pricing and he said no. In future I’ll be sure to go to Buhler CJD…

Avoid Arrigo Sawgrass, and probably all the Areigo branded dealers in FL. They are owned by Morgan Auto Group.

I posted elsewhere that we ordered a 392 Rubicon in December with 2k on deposit. Went to finalize yesterday when it arrived. The paperwork included a 30k dealer addendum and required 2500 “dealer package” that is worth zero. Lots of arguing later, we paid just slightly above MSRP.

Salesman stated he had no idea until he got the paperwork that day and I believe him. He also said they were told this week they will be charging 20k addendums on all Cherokee L’s that hit the lot. That’s different, as they can charge what they want for a car on the lot, but when I order and agree on MSRP and you hold my deposit for 7 months without disclosing you want to attach an addendum, then I’m out.

I am working on inquiries with other dealers and will update and I get more info.
Definitely stay away from Arrigo. At least Margate and Sawgrass. Horrible sales experience. Margate tried to add “Market Adjustment” and low balled us on the trade in, Sawgrass sold me a Mojave but was missing equipment and ignored my multiple attempts to get them to correct, until I provided a negative dealer experience on their review.
however, a great dealer that gave us a fantastic deal on a Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve, was Naples Jeep. We drive 130 miles to pick up the vehicle that we negotiated over the phone that morning. All in txt and phone, just went over to sign paperwork, go over the features of the vehicle, and pickup the keys. They even gave us a fair value for our trade. Definitely recommend Naples Jeep in Florida.

Interesting, since Naples is also owned by Morgan Auto Group…. Glad you had a good experience, but I don’t know if I can give that ownership group any of my business…

Although it might be worth crossing the Alley to have lunch at Tommy Bahama. 😀

I purchased from Huffines Plano and was able to get a little off sticker and no add-ons. They threw in tint and will have that done when I get the plates.

I thought it might be good to have a thread where we can talk about the dealers with questionable business practices and also those who we should patronize as much as possible.

I'll start, First stay away from Richardson Jeep in the DFW area. I had been working a deal with them for several days. Agreed to come in person to see if I can get a bit more for my trade. Got to see one in person too, so not a completely wasted trip, but after agreeing to numbers I returned home. The white Summit Reserve was not there yet but was told it would be there early next week. I was up front with them and told the dealer we were financing with USAA. All good until about 2 hours after I was home when the salesperson texted that they would now only honor the deal if I financed with them or they would lower the trade amount or put back on several thousand dollars in dealer adds. What a waste of time.

Next Frisco Jeep in Frisco, TX adds 5-10k to MSRP. They are up front about it but still.

Several others have 2-3k in dealer adds, including Rockwall Jeep and Greenville Jeep, both in TX. They are up front about it though.

Good dealers :

Platinum Jeep in Terrell, TX is will to remove most all adds except tint.
Huffines Jeep in Lewisville, TX does not have any either.

In Foley, AL Gulf Coast Jeep is also great to work with and no adds.

Looking for a White Summit Reserve w/ Tupelo interior so if anyone knows of a good dealer with one available please let me know.

Avoid any Corwin Automotive dealership.

I had traded my Gladiator on a new Summit I had ordered. They matched a deal I got from a dealership in Minneapolis. But things went sideways from there.

My Summit came in with no eLSD. The only reason I hade ordered.

the deal was 4% off of sticker. With a 52,500 trade on the Gladiator. I went back multiple times to see if they had found a Summit with eLSD. They said I would have to now pay full price since they didn’t have to honor the deal. A lot of people wanted this vehicle and basically said sorry.
This all happened before the GCL were even on the show room floors.

So in short I am out 2500 on the tax break on a trade in. And 2500 on the 4% off of sticker.

Jeep was no help and went dark and would not email me anymore. Only phone calls do I could not document there response.

I now I have a new Yukon Denali and a Chevy Tahoe Z71.

I wanted the new Grand Wagoner. But after being by Jeep and Corwin. I will never buy a Jeep product.
I guess 180,000 a every couple of years is not important to Jeep. I know GM will appreciate my money.

In AZ sales at Jim Click Jeep was amazing, great price and experience. DONT use there service department, unskilled , poor customer service and long delays. Unwilling to troubleshoot items and have a “Don’t care attitude “ dropped off GCL nice and clean and and when I picked it up was filthy.

I was really pleased with Autonation Jeep West in Golden, CO. Only dealer that would honor the FCA Affiliate Discount (From Tread Lightly) in the Metro Denver area
Good to know. I just purchased my ‘21 GC from Larry H. Miller, and the experience was pleasant. I’ve got a couple of issues I want to address, and hope they are accommodating.

Stay away from Lia Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Albany NY. I had employee pricing and they wouldn’t honor it and on top of that they tried screwing me big time on my trade in. I went to Goldstein in Latham NY. I also hear good things about Sawyer Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Saugerties NY. I called them and they honored the employee pricing and also gave me the exact same deal on my trade as Goldstein. Several other dealers I was dealing with by email wouldn’t confirm if they honored the employee pricing so I went no further with them. They would email back a few days later asking me to come and take a look. I said no sorry… you snooze you lose … you lost a sale.
