Dash Cam Installation

I am installing a front and rear Dash Camera. The front install was really easy. I routed the power cable by tucking into the front of the headliner and down the inside of the A pillar to the fuse panel under the dash I used micro fuse taps to connect for power. This cable is totally out of sight . I was able to easily route the rear camera cable out of sight back to the cargo area.

To finish the job neatly I would like to remove the two plastic panels (one on the tailgate and rear head liner) as shown in the attached pictures and route the cable out to the rear windshield. Has anyone removed these panels successfully? I'm hoping they would pop off somehow but am afraid of breaking something.

Appreciate any insight.

I have the same issue. Following. What I would settle for is some kind of coiled cable.posted some photos on this over in the GCL forum. let me know if you have any questions, it's pretty straightforward.

Not the cheapest, but my 3rd Blackvue purchase. Extremely satisfied with everything.

Yes...not the cheapest but very happy with it so far. Did you do the hardwire install? I find if I park for two days with the Parking mode enabled and both channels running the unit will shut down to protect cat battery drain. I have the shutdown set at 12.1V.

Could you post a pic of the front camera after installation, please? The DR900X-2CH seems to be a fairly large piece and I'm curious how much room it takes up. I would have to mount it to the left of the mirror due to EZ-Tag on the right.

The camera totally tucks in behind the rear view mirror for me. It is not visible to me as a driver (clear view). The lens of the camera is near the end of the barrel. I also did the hardwire install and a rear view camera. As you can see the wiring is hidden. Routing cables was easy.

There are two versions of the 900X. The DR900X-2CH and DR900X-2CH Plus. I would recommend the Plus. It is a newer and a better camera. I believe the cost differential is not that big.

Can someone who has done the hardwire option post a pic of the fuse block and the location? My 590x came with the hardwire kit, but I have it connected temporarily to the 12-volt socket. This weekend would a great time to work on hardwiring it in.

There is a Driver side under the dash fuse block. Attached is a photo of my dashcam hardwired connections. I ordered a micro fuse tap kit from Amazon. I have an 2022 Overland and for me there is a thin cover that needs to be dropped for access. There are two plastic push pins at the front corners and can be easily removed with just your finger nails and the cover will drop for access to the fuse block and for routing your hardwired cable to the fuse block. The back rear cover corners just slide in/out of slots for support. Hope that helps.

Yes - I used the same (or similar) hardwire kit you linked above. To save battery and extend time I have the security LEDs set to 'off' for parking mode. But without an added battery pack, two to three days is all you'll get for parking mode. I only park at a spot for 2+ days at my house so I'm not too concerned. More than enough cameras around.

Clean install!

Thank you for posting the underdash fush block. I'm planning to hardwire my dash cam as well, but prefer to have it come on with the ignition. Is there somewhere I can tap in to this fuse block so the camera turns on with ignition/accessory, so it's not always on?
